As Matt Hughes’ signature entrance music says, “A country boy can survive.”
The UFC welterweight legend was involved in a horrific truck accident last June that left him hospitalized with a severe head injury. Thankfully, Hughes survived the ordeal and he has been showing positive signs of recovery ever since.
On Sunday, the 44-year-old Hall of Famer was welcomed back to the Octagon at UFC St. Louis.

It was an emotional return, indeed.
I'm privileged and proud to have met him on multiple occasions. He was always in a good mood, friendly towards everyone. You could tell he truly loved what he did and being around the fights, the fans, the fighters.
I'm glad he's been able to get to the point where he's at now and I hope things continue to get better for him.

Plus he made Tim Sylvia cry. Aces in my book.

It was great to see Matt Hughes make that walk again. He was a legend in the golden era of the UFC, and a true Hall of Famer. I hope he continues to recover well.
