This is from Matt Hughes blog on his site
“If Rich [Franklin] looses then I would move up and fight Anderson [Silva]. I would never fight Rich.”
This could be very very interesting and a fight I would love to see.
Thoughts?
Props to UFCMANIA.com for this.

This is the first time I've heard about this even being an idea, but if it is at all true then I can't say I wouldn't be interested in the match-up. I think that Hughes is right that he doesn't match-up against Franklin, but he might have a shot at Silva if he could get him on the ground. I would pick Silva to win, but Hughes is always dangerous. I have Trouble seeing Silva lose though, just because his striking is just as good as St. Pierre, and we all know what happened there. Actually I think if anyone from 170 would have a solid chance of beating Silva it would be St. Pierre. Now that would be a much more exciting match, or mabey I'm just bias, but I think that would be awsome. I do prefer to watch a Striker Vs Striker unless A ground guy fights a striker with good take down defence. That actually may be why Hughes would have a good chance, just because Silvas hasn't shown the most impressive TDD. Just look what Luter was able to do. Although Sliva is underrated on the ground, and I'm not sure Hughes has dealt with someone with the spider like limbs of Silva. I think that if Hughes could get past his striking somehow and take him down I still don't no if he could dominate Silva on the ground. I no what some of you will be thinking that Hughes would have his way on the ground, but I'm not convinced. Silva was able to get Luter in a triangle, which isn't something many people could do. He has great flexability, and Hughes strength wouldn't be as much of a factor as a middleweight, any jump up in weight class is significant. anyway I'm just rambling now, and if this fight does happen it won't be for a long time, but if It does I'm picking Silva no hesitation.

Already posted but here my piece.
I dont know it sounds to me that the question was. "Would you ever move up to Middleweight?" His answer was that if Rich was champ he'd never move up because he would never want to face his friend and teammate. He would however move up if Rich wasn't the champ. Its not like he wants to move up sounds like he just answering a question more then stating he wants to fight Silva.IMO Sounds like it may be a little misconstrued.

As said, this is an old quote, either way Matt would get KILLED. He is who he is and as good as he is, but such a bigger opp w/ such a better reach w/ such a good clinch...

apparently you and itaianpride didn't read what i said. i said if 1 would move up (hughes) and one would move down (rampage) it would be a good fight (at MW). at least from my point of view cause i would like to see Q beat down Matt.
also CC-chuck would be awsome
