After the announcement of its initial headliner was met with general disinterest, Tennessee’s upcoming UFC Fight Night 108 event could have a new one.

Officials are targeting a main event between welterweight contenders Demian Maia (24-6 MMA, 18-6 UFC) and Jorge Masvidal (32-11 MMA, 9-4 UFC).

Yes, but only temporarily.

Remember he had a great streak, got KO'd by Marquardt, beat Dan Miller of all people by decision, and then faced Silva for the title in one of the worst fights ever.

Depends on how Masvidal wants to play it. Very winnable fight for either guy. I don't see Maia getting Masvidal down, but if he does it'll be all over for Masvidal. Such a 50/50 fight in my mind.

Maia can get Masvidal down, hell Ross Pearson could

I got Maia. Masvidal can win but his only route would be a knockout.

Yeah Masvidal has a solid ground game but we also make a reference to black belts and Maia, on basically he makes other black belts look like blue belts and that's what I think happens here.

And I really hope he gets a title shot with a win here. He's really fighting better than ever but his age is getting up there. Fighting at this high level can't last forever.
