With his suspension now behind him (due to a positive test for marijuana metabolites after his UFC 183 fight with Anderson Silva), Nick Diaz is set to return to the Octagon. Diaz, who proudly reps the 209 of Stockton, CA, looks to make his return at, you guessed it, UFC 209.

Sources close to the UFC have confirmed to MikeSwick.com that the perennial welterweight title contender is looking to enter the cage once again March 4, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Whoever he fights I'm sure it's better than Mike swick, when I read it too fast.

Robbie Lawler and nobody else should even be considered.

People like to complain they don't do nothing to earn big fights well he already beat Lawler and Lawler is still a top 3 welterweight. Problem solved.

That's a fight I'd enjoy to see again but Diaz beat Lawler 12 years ago and hasn't won a fight in over 5 years.

There are legitimate complaints about him coming back and immediately jumping into title contention.

Then again with the Diaz Bros. either you give them a big name fight or they take their balls and go home.

Agreed. They definitely have that mentality, and there definitely is some credence to the complaint. That said, that is a fight I'd love to see. Definitely more than a gsp rematch. Matt brown is another one I'd like, but that's unlikely given Brown's recent loss. Cerrone would also be good but he's already booked. There's quite a few fun fights for him whether at 185 or 170. If memory serves didn't bisping call Diaz out at one point not too long ago?
Mousasi vs Diaz! Thought just now occurred to me. I think that'd be a hell of a fight!

I'm just glad they are cashing in on a theme that isn't a freakshow. Lawler should be the fight to make, again cash in on the fight while it's still here. Not cashing in is why we never got Fedor vs Couture, GSP vs Silva, and Rousey vs Cyborg.

I agree with you Flashy but I will also take him jumping back into contention than DIRECTLY into a title fight because as we all know Tyron would love that fight and would let him skip over Maia and Wonderboy and that's just not right or fair. I hate that Nick keeps getting title shots cause he sells and at least this way if he beats Lawler I could stomach him fighting for the belt instead of him fighting for the belt right now when he hasn't won a fight in five years. MMA is such a funny sport

T Wood seems to be picking a fight with people not named Wonderboy too. Let's hope Diaz doesn't jump the line, even if he wins Maia would make an amazing 2nd fight back in a title run.
