sherk is the most boring fighter to watch yes he is effective but come on bj would tap him out simple.
Your post is slightly irrelevant.
And, eh, as a few other people have said, it's probably because of a slightly longer contract that Bonnar's making more money.

the TUF contract that Bonnar was given was for 9 fights(they dont have to give him 9 fights if he starts losing but they wont renegotiate with him) "Each year consists of three fights, the first year's purse per fight consist of $12,000 guaranteed with a $12,000 win bonuses (a maximum of $24,000 per fight), the second year's purse per fight is $16,000 with a $16,000 win bonus (a maximum of $32,000 per fight) and the third year's purse per fight is at $22,000 with a $22,000 win bonus (a maximum of $44,000 per fight). A TUF winner who goes 9-0 can earn $300,000 total on the contract, but only $36,000 is guaranteed."
As for Sherk it has been said already, he is near the end of his contract which was signed awhile back, when he renegotiates a new contract he will be making championchip money.

I believe it's posted here : MMAWeekly
Sherdog radio had a discussion about this, and they basically mentioned that the fighters are the ones signing their own demise. Honor the contract, and if they are still winning, negotiate for a better one. I'm sure Sherk was just happy to get back in the UFC from that hiatus that he would've signed for anything.

I'm sure he is doing OK. He has a nice looking family, nice house and he can afford organic foods. (no 99 cent cheeseburgers for that guy!)
In the long run, he will have more money than he knows what to do with. I hope.

like many have said it might have to do with his older contract he is honouring.
but when its renegotiating time he will get a pay rise, but i dont think its going to be as huge as some of the other top tier fighters.
reason.... bum on seats. he isnt the most exciting fighter, and as a result he wont bring in the revenue as ppl dont want to see a fighter dominate another guy for 5 rounds without damaging him, or even go close to finishing a fight.

What is wrong with you? You can't appreciate a good dominating performance with effort to finish the fight? If you call that lay and pray you know nothing about the ground game. Sean actually tried to submit the better submission artist a few times, he passed his guard all the time in attempts to find better spots to land elbows and punches and he had some great slams. He was smart not to go to full mount as Franca easily swept him from there.
Besides not protecting himself very good from those nasty knees, Sean fought the perfect fight and should be awarded for that impressive performance. He's one of the best conditioned athletes in MMA, he's fought the best in the sport, he's easily top 3 in the world in his division and he just defended his title in impressive fashion. Why should a no-where-near-contender, former cheater who's fighting a mediocre opponent earn more money than him.

I was shocked to see the earnings myself... I am not too familiar with "fight contracts" but you would think when you sign that someplace you put something of the sort " If I get into title contention and become title holder then pay doubles" or something of the sort...
I mean even Kenny Florian whom I like as a fighter... is he as marketable as like a Tito? No... but he definately deserves more then 16K...
To me anyone who steps foot in that ring should receive at the very minimum 5K... what is this 3K shi*?? IT'S THE UFC!! Not IFL or any of the other supposidly "miner league" venues.
The full list of paydays includes:
Anderson Silva ($90,000) def. Nate Marquardt ($24,000) Kenny Florian ($16,000) def. Alvin Robinson ($3,000) Tito Ortiz ($210,000) vs. Rashad Evans ($16,000) Sean Sherk ($28,000) def. Hermes Franca ($14,000) Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira ($200,000) def. Heath Herring ($70,000) Stephan Bonnar ($32,000) def. Mike Nickels ($5,000) Jorge Gurgel ($14,000) def. Diego Saraiva ($3,000) Chris Lytle ($20,000) def. Jason Gilliam ($3,000) Frank Edgar ($10,000) def. Mark Bocek ($3,000)

Do people really not understand how contracts work? It's like other professional sports. Sherk signed a contract after being out of the championship picture in the 170 lb weight class for a while and taking a year off of MMA. His worth wasn't very high at the time that he was signed.
Bonnar won that contract off of the first TUF.

I appriciate the ground game, I train bjj so i understand it better than most fans of this sport. Sherk is a powerful wrestler who has fought two smaller bjj fighters and beat them both via decision by using his power to take it to the scorecards. He could of gone for a finish, the amount of times he passed franca's guard to land elbows with no power, he wasnt looking for a finish, he would be happy to win every fight via decision. He took franca down, layed on him, swarmed franca's guard, but didnt do any real damage that would cause franca to make a move in defence, those punches had nothing on them. I cant believe the amount of early stand ups that the ufc refs call, especially when most fighters inflict more damage than sherk did, yet sherk is allowed to keep you there for the whole round inflicting no serious damage on franca. Sherk wanted none of franca on the feet, he'd of been ko'd if he stood with hermes. Sherk is powerful, he is the champ, but he's still a wrestler in mma. I dont agree that bonner should have got the bigger payday, sherk is the champ and should be rolling in it now, but as far im not impressed with sherk in the way that he doesnt seem to be dangerous in finishing his opponants. Sorry, thats my view on him.

Don't get me started on salaries. It will lead me into how Heath Herring is getting alot of money that would be much better used on better fighters.
