The highly anticipated welterweight showdown between Carlos Condit and Demian Maia has shifted seven days from UFC 202 to the UFC on FOX 21 main event.

The change to the bout was originally announced on Twitter by veteran Canadian sportswriter Neil Davidson and was subsequently confirmed to MMAjunkie by UFC officials.

UFC on FOX 21 takes place Aug. 27 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The bout order has not been set, but Condit (30-9 MMA, 7-5 UFC) and Maia (23-6 MMA, 17-6 UFC) fill the main event vacancy.

I just got my tickets today, so I'll be attending this event.

It'll be my 19th event, setting up NY to be my 20th and last for awhile.

I really like both Condit and Maia so I'm happy to see this bout headline the card, but it's unfortunate for UFC 202 to lose a really good fight like this. Always wanted to see a Pettis fight so hopefully that one stays intact.

I like this fight even more as a five rounder. Great matchup and a very impressive card so far.

love this fight no matter what card it's on but I do love the prospect of it being 5 rounds.

Agree with above. Making this a 5 rounder will benefit Condit in the later rounds. If this was 3 rounds, I'd choose Maia but his cardio is absolute dogshit. Condit takes a split decision most likely. I like the card overall, though. Solid names on the undercard. Excited for this one.

Ufc 202 was too dank already, gotta spread that out since conor vs Nate 2 will sell on its own.

Thank you. It's awesome when you get to witness stuff like that happen at an event you attend, I'm happy for you. Hopefully Pettis gets back in the flow of things in his drop to featherweight and I get to witness something similar.

I just want t see him get back i the flow of things in general.

I'm happy with how the card is shaping up. With 10 bouts already added, that probably leaves room for 2 or 3 more bouts... I personally hope Sarah Kaufman fights on this card, It would be the cherry on top for me. Come this weekend, Sarah's last opponent Shevchenko will have fought 2 times since their fight, where Sarah hasn't even fought once. I'm really pulling for her to get a fight on this card in her own backyard of British Columbia.

I'm happy to see Condit vs. Maia as a 5 round fight as well. I was originally going to pick Maia when it was first announced as a 3 round fight on UFC 202 but now that it's a 5 rounder I'm going to go with Condit since I feel he'll be able to defend the early onslaught of submission attempts and come on strong in the end to take the last few rounds when Maia starts to slow down, as he's show in the past.

Maia has looked very good of late and I felt should have gotten the next title shot instead of Woodley. I guess if he can fight a 5 round fight without getting completely spent and come out as the winner will help his chances of getting that title shot. You got Wonderboy waiting in the wings so idk if the winner of this would jump ahead of him or if the winner of this would get the next title shot after Wonderboy, or possibly have to fight another fight altogether. We do have a chunk of guys chomping at the bit in the welterweight division right now, which is always good to see.
