Mauro Ranallo Reunited with Bas Rutten as New Inside MMA Host

AXS TV FIGHTS on Wednesday announced renowned combat sports personality and broadcaster Mauro Ranallo will be the new host of INSIDE MMA, the longest running and only independent MMA news series on television, beginning Friday, March 25.

A veteran broadcaster with over 30 years’ experience, Ranallo will bring his energetic broadcasting style and opinionated views on the world of combat sports to INSIDE MMA alongside UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten and correspondent Ron Kruck Friday nights at 9:30 p.m. PT/12:30 a.m. ET following AXS TV FIGHTS’ weekly live MMA and Muay Thai broadcasts.

Ranallo is best known for his play-by-play commentary for prestigious organizations such as Pride Fighting Championships, which he called alongside his new co-host Rutten for several years; Showtime Boxing, where he recently called the international feed of the historic Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight; and Strikeforce, which was home to MMA superstars like Ronda Rousey, Daniel Cormier and Luke Rockhold. In 2015, Ranallo helped AXS TV launch its hit pro wrestling series NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING calling matches alongside former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett, before signing with WWE as the new voice of Smackdown.

Glad to see Kenny sticking around, I hated Ranallo at first but he grew on me over time. I think Bass said he memorizes most of the facts and stats he quotes when he's doing the play by play. Dude's got a brain for fights.

I appreciate his knowledge and passion as well. He gets sports announcing better than many will give him credit for. His biggest faults to me was he can railroad partners who don't keep up well enough, I think working with Showtime boxing helped him a little there, better produced.

I think his biggest knock is the fact his voice sounds contrived and it has a way of making whatever he is announcing seem fake but he does get way more shit than he deserves.

Mauro has a ton of knowledge and passion for the sport. My issue is with his inconsistent style - he doesn't know whether to be a straight announcer or a color commentator.

Yeah he can be a bit over the top sometimes. I hated him on the Strikeforce Playboy Mansion card. I like him more as a strait forward Play by Play guy. I kind of hope they get rid of Ron Krunk. He seems like he's a nice guy but man that dude is terrible.

I would like to so Mauro do a show with Mike Goldberg. That would be so epic.

Yeah. And throw sean grade in there asking "why" all the time like he does with Jimmy.
That would be gold.
