With so many spectacular fights, finishes and drama at UFC 189, it was probably tough for the company’s brass to figure out which four fighters should take home $50,000 bonuses. In the end, two of the promotion’s champs, one challenger and a contender nabbed additional paychecks.

What a night. Event of the year contender, fight of the year contender (Lawler/MacDonald), knockout of the year contenders (Almeida, Lawler), round of the year contender (Almeida/Pickett, though Arlovski/Browne's just a bit better).

Granted, let's not forget the stinkers of most of the prelims. However, Brown/Means not only righted the ship, but lived up to the hype.

McGregor's for real. Glad I picked him. He did in 2 rounds what Jose couldn't do in 5 (or without grabbing shorts). I don't believe in MMA math, I think Jose is one of the greatest fighters alive, and I wouldn't be surprised if he works his excellent ground game against McGregor.

I just think the matchup got even more compelling.

EASILY one of the greatest UFC events ever....just so many nasty fights.

I have a whole new respect for Rory and Connor. Connor is for real and Rory finally showed blood sweat and tears out there. He came to win the belt by any means necessary rather then play it safe as usual and even though he came up short he's still a warrior after tonight.

I really hope Bermudez and Stephens both take home 50k too. Such a sick war!

WAR LAWLER!

Conor was handed a horribly out of shape Mendes. That is an obvious fact.

'Horribly out of shape' is a bit much. Both guys had massive adrenaline dumps before the fight and neither looked incredible to begin with. Conor hurt mendes repeatedly with body shots that took there toll. Mendes was clearly winning the second round up until the finish.

Did you watch the post fight presser ? A journalist said that if Bermudez vs Stephens was on a different card they would have definitely got some Kind of bonus... Then Dana completely shut the guy down and said Stephens deserves no praise for coming in overweight.

You're right.

Aldo did it in one round.

He did, while grabbing the shorts. Not saying that knee wasn't ridiculously good, but c'mon. Chad gets that takedown, it's a different fight.

Biggest UFC of all time? Paid $230,000 in total sponsor money. I bet 4 fighters could of sold that much sposorship individually.

But everybody takes a pay cut to make zuffa richer. Fighters, trainers and so on down the list. Even Stitch makes less.
