With Drew Fickett out of UFC 73 because of an injury, UFC veteran welterweight Chris Lytle (22-14-5 MMA, 2-6 UFC) will instead face Jason Gilliam (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the July 7 event, according to a UFCjunkie.com (www.ufcjunkie.com) source.

Wow, that went from a hard one to pick to a moderate easy pick for Chris.

Hopefully and probably Lytle has trained his ass off to fight Fickett. It's nice to see a fighter like Lytle getting some slack competition-wise. I hope we get to see Fickett - Lytle down the road though.

well that makes the pick 100 times easiar, i was still going with lytle but jason gilliam is not in the same class as fickett

instead of a decision im gonna change this one to either knock out or sub

Yeah, I read this earlier.. I'm guessing the UFC couldn't find anyone with more talent to step in on short notice (with the PPV being one week from Saturday), and there's no place better in the MMA world to get seen than being on the card of a UFC PPV. Gilliam will probably have three or four offers come in as soon as the fights over.. If not, just call up a promoter and tell them that they can get a guy who fought on a UFC card, and that puts you at the front of the list, of fighter options for your event.

Jason Gilliam has already fought in the UFC. He lost to Jamie Varner in the first round via Rear Naked Choke at UFC 68. So yeah, I think this fight is fairly easy to call, Lytle via RNC in the first as well.
