One-time top middleweight contender and potential welterweight newcomer Mike Swick (10-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) is the first rumored fighter to be added to September’s UFC 76 event. link

Looking forward 2 seeing him fight at welterweight. I think Thiago Alves would be a good matchup for him at 170lbs at ufc 76

I know Okami whipped him but Swick is a far worse fight in welterweight than middle...
My opinion ofcourse....

Yea I'm gonna have to agree welterweight is so stacked i really don't know where Swick is gonna fall. In a division with Sanchez, GSP, Matt Hughes, Karo Parisian, and Josh Koscheck to name a few i just don't see Swick being much of a factor in an amazingly stacked class i think 170 would fit him much better.

I really don't understand the move to WW for Swick. He was a top contender in MW, which is a weaker division than WW IMO. His strength at MW was his speed and a lot of that will be negated at WW where things are a little faster. I think it will be a negative move for him.

Swick has to beat fighters like Hughes, Serra, St. Pierre, Karo, Fitch to even get reconginzed in WW. I don't think he can beat someone like a Georges or a Karo.

Swick is a good fighter and I think one thing that will help him out at WW is he will have a fantastic reach for that division.
Like everyone else has said, it will be much easier for him to get lost in the shuffle, plus he trains with Koscheck and Fitch so those two potential matchups will not happen.

He can do well at WW if he works on his sprawl and overall ground game, because WW is filled with so many sick takedown artists, but if can hold his own there we may see big things.

I think its sad that he would drop weight after one loss in the ufc at mwt...yeah okami was strong but come on....swick had his moments in that fight.... its called "learning from your losses"......sounds like words of discouragement to drop wt classes....plus i'd love to see a rematch between swick and leben for nothing other than its entertainment value

Yeh I definatly wanted to see that rematch and the MW division is left even more shallow now that Swick is now a WW. Im still looking forward to some great fights from Swick at WW but there were still some good fights left at 185lbs

I love watching Swick fight.. The move to WW may prove to be entertaining but he definitely had more of a chance at MW. I think he could've taken Okami, he didn't fight his fight, im sure he followed his gameplan but that wasn't a good one. I'd def like to see him continue at MW.. Hell.. i may get flamed for this but i'd rather see him go up to 205 than down to 170. I think he'd be better at 205.. if he has to go anywhere that is
