The UFC revealed that they would be incorporating leg reach statistics to their “Tale of the Tape” in future events.

I think this should have been done a long time ago.

Maybe I'm the minority, but I don't really feel this is necessary. Sure it is a cool stat to compare between fighters, but as far as being a game changer or having guys make strategy's around their opponents leg reach, I'm not sure it'll make much of a difference. People don't use it like a jab or whatever to keep their opponents at bay enough for them to have to think about it.
Maybe I'm wrong, I've only ever boxed, so if there are any guys who disagree I would love to hear why it's an important stat.

I don't find it super important either but I know they've been doing it on all the AXS TV fights, Legacy, RFA, MFC, etc.

The way i see it, every stat they list out in this manner is really only good if you're trying to compare the body types of fighters.

Like lets take Shogun: Long reach for his size, Short Arms, Short Legs - Giving him a tremendously wide and long back/torso. Which is probably why he hits so god damn hard even with unsound boxing fundamentals.

But Leg Reach in the same vein as Arm reach(to include shoulders) isn't really helpful IMO. Someone with a 3" leg advantage might amount to someone being more mobile per stride, little else.

Kind of unfair to Kyle Maynard whenever he makes his Octagon debut.
