Ronda Rousey has no love for Batman vs. Superman casting: I should have been Wonder Woman!

I haven't seen Expendables 3, but Ronda is probably too untested to land a part like Wonder Woman unless she had a helluva screen test. I will say that between her and Gadot she is closer to the physicality of Wonder Woman, though.

Speaking of Gadot, she looks like she's 100 pounds soaking wet. That's the opposite of Wonder Woman. I have only seen her in Fast/Furious, but I don't remember her being anything special so the acting aspect is sort of a wash. Seems like crappy casting.

And going way back to Linda Carter...not the legendary casting choice its made out to be. Do a youtube search, and tell me her acting in that part doesn't make you laugh at how bad it is. Eye candy sure but not much else.

Honestly, casting Wonder Woman is kinda hard. You want a decent actress, but you also want to avoid the average Hollywood stick figure and/or tiny chick. Bridget Regan or Alexandra Daddario would be a very good choice based on acting skill and body size. If you were going to cast a mixed martial artist, the obvious choice would actually be Gina Carano. She's proven to be at least adequate as an actress, and she's also generally the right look for the part. I'd even consider Jennifer Lawrence if she wasn't so incredibly overexposed at this point.

I prefer my Wonder Woman to be attractive and sexy. Not like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

This.

This x1000! Wonder Woman is an Amazon princess with super strength. She should be much more muscular than either woman. How sexy or hot she looks is secondary. Also I don't think Ronda is really lobbying for the role. She's asked what super hero role she'd like to play and she answers the question. It's a casual offhand remark.

Wonder woman isn't buff. She has super powers, not a super gym membership. DC says wonder woman is 6 feet tall 130 pounds, model material.

Yeah, not sure I agree with you here. WW, as has been said, falls in that category of taller (5-foot-7+), 130-pound females in comics. Look up Black Widow and the Witch, both are listed around the height/weight as Wonder Woman. Scarlett Johansson is only 5'3" and 130 pounds, but nobody is bitching about her. Elizabeth Olson (Scarlet Witch) is 5-foot-7, 120 pounds and nobody is claiming that she's not full-bodied enough to play the Witch.

I think Gal Gadot will be fine as Wonder Woman.

Here's an article talking about how Snyder will likely force Gadot to add some weight to substance out the character

It really depends on the artist that draws her but generally she's depicted as very muscular and how do you know where she works out? As far as the info on DC.com, comic book continuity is terrible. She should have the physique similar to Cyborg's regardless of real life height weight numbers not matching the listed numbers on a website.

Yeah except that would suck, why would anyone want a manly wonder women, hence why she isn't and never has been portrayed as notably buff. It does depend on the artist, fan art sometimes has a buff fetish, DC comic art has her fit and lean. And the DC.com site is as more official then any other source available on things like this weather that is accepted or not. Cyborg would probably be better then Rousey since she is leaner, but wonder women isn't buff outside of fan art. Rousey would suck as Wonder Women in all capacities.

I take it you don't actually read comics? Millar draws her buff as hell as does Hitch. 6ft tall and 130 would look more like Jessamin Duke. I'm actually OK with the casting as long as the woman can act. Hugh Jackman for instance is way too tall to be Wolverine but he does a fine job as far as I'm concerned. I do agree Ronda would be terrible though. I vote for Lucy Lawless. I think it would be cool if DC had the balls to portray a female super hero with a more realistic build, this chick looks like an underwear model but people just want to see a half naked hot chick.

Lucy Lawless would be a better choice to play Wonder Woman's mother at this point.

She's got to be pushing 50.

Who they picked is fine. You don't want some built like a brick shithouse to play the role. She needs to be thin and gorgeous.she needs to be smart and strong as well. That's what puts the wonder in Wonder Woman. If she was built like Ron Da or cyborg there wouldn't be any wonder why she's a superhero.

If I would pick a wmma fight for the roll I would have to go with carano. But I like who they went with (look wise).hopefully she can act and pull this character off

From William Mouton Marston (creator of Wonder Woman):
Not even girls want to be girls so long as our feminine archetype lacks force, strength, and power. Not wanting to be girls, they don't want to be tender, submissive, peace-loving as good women are. Women's strong qualities have become despised because of their weakness. The obvious remedy is to create a feminine character with all the strength of Superman plus all the allure of a good and beautiful woman.

Can go on doing this because this could go on for days. Point is, Wonder Woman is depicted as fit and lean at best but not big and buff, that is not the cannon or the cultural representation that fits the character. She does look like an underwear model then and now because that is what she is supposed to look like, a good looking half naked chick, that is wonder Woman.

Yeah Buff is probably a poor choice of words but a 6 foot tall human that weighs 130 pounds is going to look very skinny not the way most artists draw her in the comics I read. Alex Ross' version is my favorite .That chick looks like about a hundred pounds at best but if she can act I don't really care. I think given Wonder Woman's height and proportions 150-160 would be more realistic weight.
