Although featherweight Conor McGregor is shooting for the moon just three fights into his octagon career, UFC President Dana White isn’t keen on letting up-and-comers bite off more than they can chew.

I'm really surprised to see Dana calling for this fight after Gunnar's most recent performance. Rory just seems like way way way too much for him at this stage in his career. Gunnar was honestly losing the fight on most rational people's scorecards until he got the sub in the second round. The first was either a draw or Cummings round and the second was on it's way to being Cummings round as well until he gave up the ground control, and his back. Gunnar would have won the round, even if he didn't finish it with the sub, but if it weren't for that last 30 seconds of the round, Cummings would have won that one too and been 5 minutes away from winning a decision.

I think Rory would crush him. A better fight in my opinion would be someone like Tarec Saffiedine.

Give him Tarec or even Ellenberger. Jake needs to fight people outside the top 10 and Gunnar should get an opponent ranked 6-10. Rory will probably fight the winner of Lombard/Stun Gun, there's no point in Rory fighting someone so low down in the rankings.

Too much too soon. If dana wants to ruin a prospect's run this fast, so be it. Rory UD.

Gunnar vs. Rory Mac would be a good fight. Rory looked really impressive in his last outing, whereas Gunnar not so much. But styles do make fights. Gunnar and Rory are both more natural 170lb'ers, whereas Cummings was a LHW fighting at 170.

Nelson and Cummings were both 3-0 in the UFC going in to that fight, if I recall correctly. Cummings had been improving, and seemed to have improved even more so yesterday. I think it says a lot about Gunnar's performance, being able to rally back, adapt, and work some of his grappling magic.

While Nelson vs MacDonald might not be the fight I would make, I wouldn't count Gunni out if that was to be his next fight.

This is a dumb idea, not sure why Dana wants to make this fight happen. Cummings was beating Nelson up until the sub and Rory is way too smart of a fighter to go to the ground with a guy like Nelson. Rory would TKO him in the first or second round. Wouldn't even be a fight.

It'd be a good fight for Rory to kind of get away from that boring image he's gotten since I think he'd finish Gunnar rather easily. Not only is he just as good on the ground and strong, his striking is on another level. I just don't see how Gunnar can win this unless he can catch Rory in a sub like he did yesterday.

Gunnar should fight the loser of Stun Gun - Woodley to better gauge where he is at. Ellenberger, Erick Silva, Maia, Koschek would all be great options he deserves somebody in the lower top 10-15 position. Not top 5 like Rory.

Perhaps Dana wants to keep Rory busy by showcasing him against someone not at his level so that he gets an easy and brutal victory en route to a title shot.
