UFC Fight Night 50 just got a whole lot more punchy.

Heavyweights with proven knockout power will square off at the Sept. 5 card at Foxwoods Casino near Ledyard, Conn., when Matt Mitrione meets Derrick Lewis. FOXSports.com initially reported the bout Wednesday.

Mitrione, a 35-year-old former NFL player from Illinois, was scheduled to meet Stefan Struve at UFC 175 last weekend. That matchup was scrapped at the last moment due to Struve's health scare in the locker room at Mandalay Bay. Mitrione was awarded both his win and show money for the cancelled bout, but asked to be placed into another fight as soon as possibly.

Looks like Derrick got his wish with this fight against "Mattrione"
Should be very fun for as long as it lasts though. I think Derek can pull it off. Would be very surprised if this went more than 5 minutes.

Was thinking the exact same thing....looks like the Black Beast got exactly what he asked for. Should be a fun fight, and with Mitrione only fighting in the UFC I feel he'll have an advantage in the experience/cardio if it goes 3 rounds. I'm not certain it goes past 5 minutes though, both guys have power however Lewis is much more aggressive and when he smells the finish, he goes for it man, does he go for it, lol. I think he'll end up TKO'ing Mitrione 4+ minutes into the fight, it shouldn't get out of the first, imo.

Derrick Lewis reminds me of the heavyweight boxer Samuel peters. Just a massive beast with crazy power. I think he could definitely take down a few of the well known hw's.

If he can get through mitrione they should give him soa or maybe Nelson.

SAMUEL PETER is his name. H3e hasn't been relevant since Vitali beat his ass about 6 years ago. Peaked in the rematch with James Toney.
