The UFC president shared his doubts about Bellator's PPV buy claims with the assembled MMA media at yesterday's UFC 174 pre-fight scrum.

That's the thing about numbers they aren't always accurate. Seems a little high to me to but who am I to know?

Despite being completely unprofessional and profanity laced I don't think anything Dana's main message was incorrect.

Its highly unlikely that PPV did 100k buys and it is suspicious that Bjorn claims to know the PPV #'s but not the gate from the event.

He should be worried about this weak ass card coming up to do that.

Though no matter how trash ufc ppvs are their are still a a few hundred thousand people stilling to waste money.

Luke Thomas reported the numbers were a little above 100K. When some BE readers accused him of pushing those numbers he had this to say.

'Have you – or anyone in these comments – considered for two seconds White might falsely say the number is less than 100k for effect, knowing full well it’s 100k (it’s actually 100k and some change)? He knows his word carries a lot of power and he doesn’t have to name any ‘actual’ figure, he merely has to cast doubt on the surprise.

Heads up, folks: I’m not sure how BE made out, but Bellator 120 beat UFC 173 in terms of traffic on MMAFighting. It was shocking. It nearly beat UFC 172. For a Bellator event, that is unprecedented. Bellator events and articles are usually dead zone material.

My prediction going in was 50k to 75k. I was surprised as the rest of you that it did better than it did, but when I reviewed our traffic, I was more surprised by that. Even Rampage on Spike TV-broadcasted Bellator event didn’t do numbers like this one did.

And can Bellator sustain that in the future? I have no idea. I frankly still have my doubts. I think they benefited a lot from a first-time curiosity/semi-train wreck vibe.

Wake up, for just a second, please. White doesn’t pay attention to Bellator at all yet knows no gate figures have been released (Miss. commission won’t return my calls anymore and venue won’t release figures). He doesn’t pay attention yet he knew their PPV numbers before Bellator did? He didn’t challenge them when they were initially released? They haven’t been to Connecticut in a decade and White takes dates from Fox Sports without giving input? Come the F on.

Bellator isn’t really a competitor to the UFC in any kind of serious way, but the UFC brass are born competitors. Bellator 120, however fleeting, was a competitor moment. When you view it in those contexts, it becomes a lot easier to understand.'

I was as surprised as anyone that they did 100k buys, guess we underestimated some of these old UFC fighters drawing power, because no one ordered this for Chandler/Brooks, let's be real for a second here. Without Tito, Rampage and King Mo, probably the MW Champ Schlemenko as well, saved this card.

As long as they keep it at a decent price then I don't see why they can't be successful on PPV. Stack the cards for $30-40 and they should get decent numbers. Imagine if Alvarez actually fought. Maybe could of done 250k
