UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao feels 'learning English is very necessary' for him to completely connect with fans. UFC president Dana White doesn't agree.

Right, because Brazilians that speak English (JDS, Anderson Silva) don't get attention...

He's small, goofy looking, and has a terrible victory dance.

Other than Machida and Maia he is my favourite Brazilian...once Machida got better at English way more ppl started liking him...but Barao is one of my favourites cuz he is so f'n badass and he is still murdering guys when Aldo and even Jones now are settling for winning easy decisions

He's small thus the typical lard ass American won't like him because he'd kick their 350 pound ass anyway.

I try not to blink because I hate to get caught off guard by the victory dance. I get pumped for his fights because I know that somebody is getting finished and it could happen anywhere.

Out of all the champs.
I think barao is the least known one.

He has been on ppv co main and main events.
While Johnson has been making a name on Fox cards.

To be honest. The avg fight fan
Probably couldn't name one fighter in the bantamweight class outside Faber and Cruz

Due to inactivity, they probably can only name Faber.

I think the UFC just can't promote their talent for shit. I don't know what it is. Any Barao or Mighty Mouse PPV, I am buying. These guys are amazing. There are lots of guys they could develop, but they just seem incapable of capturing main stream attention as of late.

Chuck, Tito and Randy became stars almost in spite of the UFC. GSP and the TUF 1 crew and all the champions of the day became stars because they were around when the UFC became a household name again. We really haven't seen any "stars" get developed by the UFC since then, in my opinion. Jon Jones is close, but the buys aren't there. Brock was a WWF product. (Fuck that WWE shit, I'm taking WWF back, but that's a whole different topic)

Could be, I'm not complaining, I think heavier fights tend to be more leaning than fighting and it looks like they never trained cardio ever. Either way people seem to rule out light weight fighters.

Great. I'm not saying its the only factor since I listed two others but obviously there's an issue somewhere and I mostly think its because he's small.

Barao does need speak English if he wants that Lyoto Machida money. White wants t keep him cheap so of course he's going to spout nonsense. I don't really know what's next for Barao like he's literally done everything in his weight class which could make him get a cheaper contract based on everyone has seen him fight everyone worth a damn. Besides Cruz who isn't due back until 2020.
