who wins at light weight, and who wins at welterweight?

i'm saying nick diaz wins both, and i believe his JJ is more effective in mma.

I'll take Bj everytime( unles it was a 5 round fight ) , the only advantage I would give Diaz is reach in a 3 rounder, and BJ would walk right through his punches. I think the only LW with the power to really hurt BJ is Gomi and Bj would just take him down like last time IMO.

I think Diaz for both. his standup has never been bad but only gotten better and when he takes you to the ground its over. plus he has fought all the top dogs.

I've got to go with BJ. In his last fight with Hughes he looked great, until he supposedly got injured. If BJ comes in shape and ready to fight all 3 rounds he is a tough opponent for anyone.

That's a tough call to make...

For one, this has fight of the year written all over it, no matter who takes it...

I'd have to go with my boy Nick... Although I think it would probably be a split...

Neither fighter has much of an advantage on the feet or standing, IMO... While Diaz isn't too hard to take down, he is really hard to keep down, and has excellent sweeps / escapes...

It would be a ground exhibition, but both are too well versed in jits to sub the other...

The really scary part is they both have great chins... Both have only 1 loss by TKO, Nick's early in his career and BJ's to Hughes... I never even thought of comparing them as fighters

You know what, I'd really want to see this fight

I'd go with BJ on this one. Diaz is good, but BJ is just incredible.

BJ takes this in both weight classes....you would have to be out of your mind to believe otherwise.

its definatly a dream match up i have always thought about, and to be honest its really a tough match to call....i dont see any of them finishing eachother no matter how many times they fought..

Toss a coin i guess....they are both very similar..

BJ would be stronger, better wrestler, and harder puncher, but Diaz has the reach advantage and Cardio

I would love to see it regardless!

Two of my all time favs... I cant call it. One thing for sure is that we would have a true war on our hands. God, someone make this fight happen!!

If BJ Penn was focused in his training and wasn't all lazy and whatnot, I think he could beat Nick Diaz easy.

Welterweight - Diaz
Light Weight - Penn...

I think that if BJ came in shape it would be a war and would go to a split decision, but if he didn;t Diaz would walk all over BJ . When BJ is in shape he is almost unstoppable but when he is not in shape and get hit a few times(like he would with diaz )he loses the will to fight and throws in the towel mentaly.IMO
