Less than two weeks removed from his 50th career victory, 13th straight win and fourth straight win in a title fight, Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko knows when he wants to get back to work.

Alexander made his first tweet in nearly 4 months with a video call out, transcript below.

“Tito Ortiz: You say you want to fight May 17th on Bellator’s pay-per-view. I will fight you. I will beat you. Tito, I respect you, but I must beat you because I am champion. I know that Tito Ortiz is different weight class. I know that Tito Ortiz is light heavyweight. I ready I ready fight with light heavyweight, no problem. Bjorn, make this fight for me because I am champion. I am the best. I will make good fight, 'Fight of Night'." Then it was repeated in Russian.

Tito Ortiz responsed with

@titoortiz: The Champ calls me out????“@KenPavia: Alexander Shlemenko challenges Tito Ortiz for an MMA fight!: http://t.co/v7oups57gc via @YouTube

Then 3 hours later just now tweeted

@titoortiz "4 weeks to prepare to fight the champ? The hell with it I'm game! May 17th live on PPV ??Let the Punishment!??"

I love Shlemenko and I'd love to see him put a beating on Tito but stepping in on four weeks notice wouldn't be a smart thing to do, especially for a guy like Tito who can't walk to his car without getting injured.

Alexander Shlemenko would probably KO him quick with another liver shot, but I hope he would make it entertaining & let Ortiz hang in a while for a thorough beat down. Odds are though that Ortiz either goes out with another injury or they don't even bother making the fight since they'd have to pay him a huge amount for a fight that would be 3rd from the top (Chandler-Alvarez, Rampage-Mo).

A couple funny tweets I saw

@marc_raimondi: Tito Ortiz cracks two vertebrae sneezing. I don’t want to know what would happen if he fought Alexander Shlemenko.

@GrabakaHitman: Breaking News: Tito Ortiz suffers a C5 vertebrae fracture while sending his last tweet and is out indefinitely.

Let him get in there...regardless of how it does he will hang it on his wall as well. One of the fighters on the first ever Bellator PPV..."I make organizations successfull on PPV!"

They will make it because honestly besides the UFC Hendricks vs Lawler card thatd be the best MMA card of the YEAR so far!

Chandler-Alvarez 3, Rampage vs King Mo, Ortiz vs Alexander! THATS STACKED!

And I'd bet money on Tito. He has the size and wrestling to actually win this. Shlemenko is pretty one dimensional like Tito though and itd probably be his toughest fight to date in all honesty.

Staged! I guarantee Bellator wouldn't announce a Tito fight until it got close, to prevent the disappointment of him pulling out. I'm just disappointed that we need a staged scenario to announce a fight. Just announce the fight.

I'll enjoy any opportunity to see Tito get punched in the face. This doesn't change that. It's just lame. Maybe you should focus on praising everything that Bellator does yeah?

edit:
Nevermind, I missed your previous comment. You already had it covered.

Just when it's justified, problem?

I was of the opinion it's not always justified. I guess you are of a different opinion though. Is there a problem pointing out when something is staged? Why the need to deflect from what's obvious? Why is it so important not to point that out?

The way I saw the events unfold I don't think it was staged. It looked to me like it was a spur of the moment video with the callout & I don't think Shlemenko's words would have been the same if it was already a done deal. Also, Ortiz didn't accept the challenge immediately, he questioned it then 3 hours later accepted. There still is nothing official & even when it is I won't count on it actually going down until "The People's Champ" is standing inside the cage.

Tito on a PPV these days is laughable.

He's got 1 win in his last 9 fights and hasn't fought in 2 years

Bellator is desperate for this PPV to go well and I guess they needed someone for Shlemenko to fight.

I don't expect this to go very well for Tito or Bellator.
