Following an 0-3 sting his first time around, Peter Sobotta was released from his UFC contract. Following a rejuvenated win streak, he's made his way back to Zuffa and the UFC.

Is there some other reason why they would want him?

Glad he gets another chance. Great fighter, but was matched against three vicious kickboxers in his UFC fights. Hopefully he learned some better entries than the judo clinches he usually uses to avoid getting stuck on the outside all the time.

I don't know about vicious but he denitely got thrown to the wolves so to speak as he never had an easy fight to showcase himself. After 4-5 straight wins he definitely justifies it. Hope he can rebound on this Germany card and prove he's better then he's shown. Competition is always a plus.

I don't understand. None of the guys that beat Sobotta in the UFC are any better than fringe UFC-level (at best) themselves. Sobotta is exactly the type and ability-level of fighter I'm not at all sad to see get released (or not signed in the first place).

They always do this for the hometown crowds.

I had to watch Steven Lynch, Colin Robinson and Tom Egan when the UFC was over here and none of them were UFC material or a match for their opponents.

At least Sobotta might be able to win a fight.
