I'm glad Vitor backed out like he did. To be fair, the guy was on legal medicine yesterday that's no longer legal today. So if he did fight and still got popped he'd be facing a suspension or maybe worse(ban) since he's a past offender. Vitor doing it this way gives the UFC time to promote the new match up, Machida and Weidman as much heads up as possible, and makes life easier for his bosses at the UFC. Nothing wrong with Vitor pulling out in my book, but it's a shame we won't get to see that fight for now.

I was looking forward to Weidman/Belfort, but this is a great replacement fight. I think Weidman takes it.

It's about time Machida gets a break. Ever-since Machida lost to Shogun, Machida hasn't seen any favors inside or outside the ring. I just don't like the timing because I'm not so sure Machida will be fully recovered by then..

Should this be called Vitor Replacement Therapy?

As for his potential to pop, I don't accept that reasoning. He should be maintaining his levels with a doctor's oversight. So, that wouldn't be an issue, unless he was cycling a higher ratio. I don't see that being the issue either though, since he still needs to be under the same limit, TUE or not. I suspect he just needs time for personal adjustment.
