Wow by the time they fight in December or whatever they will both have had over a year long layoff. Which especially sucks for Melendez since he has been healthy the whole time.
I'm stoked for this fight though! Their styles are going to make for one hell of an interesting match.

There are actually some talented female Strawweights that are gonna be on the show.
I'm actually excited for this weight class and it was a great move to have a strawweight class added instead of any of the others. When I say others I mean the Women's Atomweight, Flyweight or Featherweight.
I see it like this any fighter that is in the Featherweight Division can cut to Bantamweight, any of the larger Flyweights can go to Bantamweight while the smaller Flyweights can drop to strawweight. And some of the Atomweights such as Jessica Penne can just fight at Strawweight.
So this new weight Division opened the door up for a lot of the up and coming women fighters. By far more opportunity than any of the other weight classes.
Plus the 115lb Diviiosn is by far the deepest of any of the others.
My opinion is that TUF 20 women will be much better overall than the women that were on TUF 18 Bantamweights.

jjeans set up a side game thread on who we thought the champions would be at the end of 2014 and here was my post.

HW:.....Cain Valesquez
LHW:..Jon Jones
MW......Chris Weidman
WW:....Johnny Hendricks
LW:.....Anthony Pettis (Only because he might fight once and 5 more top contenders will emerge)
FW:.....Jose Aldo
BW:....Renan Barao
FLY:....John Dodson Women's
BW:..Ronda Rousey Women's
SW:..Claudia Gadelha

Called that shit. But I hope Melendez beats him too.

War Melendez!

I didnt really care where he went. Whatevers best for the fighter. Him vs Alvarez or Chandler would have been so sick and that could of been a big powermove by Bellator but UFC wasnt dumb enough to let that happen.

A pettis fight is going to be so sick. It will be worth the wait guranteed sick fight. The only thing that sucks is the title is held up.Hope Melendez wins because hed be able to defend it more. If TJ is seriously taking this long to recover he probably shouldnt jump straight in with somebody like Pettis whose head kicks can do serious damage to your head after his concussions thats the last thing he needs right off that bat.

TJ vs Bendo
Khabib vs Dos Anjos
Thompson vs Diaz 2

Id like it. Whoever wins more impressively gets the shot. All of them have a case except maybe Diaz and Bendo. Khabib and Dos Anjos earns a shot because they are on nasty 4-6 fight streaks

First, I'm glad Gil isn't going anywhere and a matchup with Pettis has got to be a fun watch.

Second, there's actually some relevance to this season of TUF since the winner gets crowned the inaugural champ. To me it's going to be worth watching for that reason alone.

The long layoff for the LW strap sucks, but I'd rather have Pettis healthy and ready to go than have him get in there and not be able to fight the way he fights when he's right. The payoff for the wait should be great too since I can't see how that fight could be boring, unless of course Pettis or Gil get hurt leading up to the fight.

Gil made out like a fucking stud. Dana didn't want to give him the money he asked for and basically told him to find a new place to work, Gil did exactly that, and boom... he gets the money he wants AND a title shot.

Finally, Dana White loses More great fighters need to be like Gil.
