My brother wants to look into getting a fight, but we're not sure how to go about it. He has quite a bit of wrestling experience and a 1st degree black belt in tae kwon do (probably doesnt mean much to most people in mma but figured i'd throw it out there) He's 19, how do we go about getting him a fight, preferably in California.

An MMA fight? Is he versed in submissions have prior BJJ knowledge? Does he want to fight straight away or look for a gym to train at? If so how many times a week would he want to train and what is his budget?

Find out what his weaknesses are and get him to train specifically in those disciplines, it may be difficult to find an actual MMA gym, but a Muay Thai, Boxing or BJJ/Judo or some sort of combination would be beneficial. All depandant on budget really.

Yes an MMA fight and hes looking to fight straight away to get a feel for if it's something he wants to continue, and there is a gym nearby that trains in BJJ, kickboxing and boxing, but it's a bit pricey so he wants to know what he's getting into first.

He has no BJJ training so far, but I was under the impression that many fighters starting off arent BJJ wizards and some have little to no training specifically in BJJ.

He has extensive wrestling and TKD, with judo and hapkido to a lesser extent. We just don't know how to go about getting fights.

I have an amateur show coming up if he wants to test himself. I'd just need some details. I don't feed fighters btw, I make sure I match them up as close as possible to same style and experianced fighters. Strikers with strikers, grapplers with grapplers grapplers who want to fight strikers vs strikers who want to fight a grappler. You get the point.

AKA is in San Jose california. A lot of really good well rounded fighter's coming out of there. He might want to get trained some more before he fight's.

Here's their internet address. Good luck to your bro.
