It’s no secret that UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman’s next title defense will be against Vitor Belfort. It’s also no secret that UFC officials plan for the bout to be in Las Vegas in late spring or mid-summer.

"When it was pointed out that White has been a little quick to proclaim a new No. 1 in the pound-for-pound rankings lately – he recently said if Renan Barão defeats Urijah Faber next week, he would be No. 1 on the list – he was just as quick to defend his proclamation about Weidman.

“If [Weidman] beats Vitor, Barão’s [expletive] No. 2!”"

Oh, well that settles it right there. For a minute I thought we were going to hear an actual reason.

In all fairness, if Silva was considered by many as the #1, and has been for years, with a few back and forths between GSP and Jones, and then Weidman beats Silva twice, he should be at least in the argument against a very select few as the pound for pound king pin. If he beats Belfort in dramatic fashion, then yeah, I would place him as the new #1.

Dana says A LOT of shit. That's the moral of this story.

Weidman is making his claim but he hasn't had a long career yet by any means. The guy is 11-0. He has plenty of time to carve out a legacy that's worthy of being the p4p king.

To me the #1 P4P is unquestionably Jon Jones right now.

Jon Jones would have an 11% reach advantage on the average of that division...

At Flyweight that's a 7 inch reach advantage and at HW it's an 8.5 inch reach advantage.

The only guys who come close to 11% is Bigfoot at 6%...

There are very few fighters in the world who could deal with that reach atm. Jones is N1 for now.

So reach is how you are making a claim to be the #1 P4P. I would have to go with Jones due to the murders row he has beat.

Their's no denying Weidman now has 2 wins against Anderson who by many was considered the p4p king, but to me I gotta go with Jones. The guy pretty much dispatched the who's who of an extremely stacked division and has had some amazing fights to boot.

What about Aldo? How long is his streak? How many title defences? I think Jones deserves it over Weidman. No doubt he's a beast! He might even break Anderson's records one day. But I'm going to make my choice off the top fighters records. Who have they fought? I understand Weidman is undefeated. And that he beat who most people thought was the king pin twice, but I think he needsto defend that strap a few more times at least beforewe put him #1

Jones is easily the #1 P4P. I feel like its not worth an arguement.
