Keith Kizer has resigned from his position as executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission.

The NAC announced Kizer’s resignation via email on Friday evening, according to multiple reports. Kizer will take a position with the Nevada Attorney General’s office after his resignation takes effect on Jan. 27.
The commission does not yet have a replacement for Kizer, but a search is expected to begin immediately. Kizer was appointed as executive director of the NAC in 2006 after previously serving in the attorney general’s office beginning in 2001.

I'd love to see Dana's reaction.

Edit: Sorry, I'm usually not a fan of excessive icons but I felt this truly called for it. Wonder What spurred the decision?

Something tells me conspiracy theorist will point to Belfort fighting Weidman in Vegas soon.

If it does turn out to be related I will apologize to all the theorists

I really hope the next person to be in charge actually does their job. Good riddance.

I hadn't considered that angle, but I was ready to believe it was due to zuffa one way or another.

Can't say I was too big a fan of the guy. Hopefully whoever steps up will fix some of the big problems!

He got promoted, What a joke? Clearly he's not qualified so his continued success can only be attributable to his corruption and cronyism, IMO. He was promoted so he can save or make people a lot of money.

Ah well, at least we won't have to see him anymore, for now at least. The attorney generals office oversees the athletic commissions so Kizer isn't exactly out of the picture.

The attorney general is the one who decides whether or not to regulate mma the way they did in boxing with the Muhamed-Ali reform Act. That regulation could destroy Zuffa's stranglehold on the sport overnight. Kizer and Zuffa will be tighter than ever, and they've been tight for a long time despite public spats to make you think otherwise.

Kizer and Nevada benefit from the UFC's presence in Vegas and work towards Zuffas goals to ensure it stays that way.
