I like the old throwback action flicks too... While I wouldn't say that they're the best movies ever... I can always sit down and watch movies like Commando, Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Total Recall, etc

Oldboy, M, Touch of Evil, Citizen Kane, Once Upon a Time in the West, Taxi Driver, and Haute Tension. (Amoung many many others, I'm just a bit of a cinephile) Basically if it's Horror, Drama, or Film Noir and well done I'm all over it.

Oldboy was one of the craziest movies that I've ever seen... Fantastic choice, I need to watch that again...

Also I wanted to throw in Chopper with Eric Bana... That's another one that I can watch whenever. If you haven't seen it, check it out

A Tale of Two sisters
Audition

If you havnt seen these films, watch them ASAP. There is no more affecting material in cinema than these two movies...

also worth of note

Oldboy
Visitor Q
Ichi the Killer
Gozu
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance
Happiness of the Katakuries
Ju-on series (The Grudge before America got it, though the US ones were still good)
Ring series(japanese originals)
Ong Bak (greatest Muay Thai demo ever)
Warrior King (second best Muay Thai demo ever)
Gonin
Sonatine
Battle Royale I + II
Violent Cop
The Eye

yeah you could say I like Japanese / Asian cinema

Of course, I love the action heroes too
Terminator I + II
Demolition man
Predator 1+2
Alien Quadrilogy
Iron Cobra
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Cliffhanger
Rocky (all 6 baby!)

It is known fact that Commando is the best movie ever made. If you kill your biggest enemy with a steam pipe and say "Let off some steam Bennett" your quaranteed to have some quality there. Ofcourse there are movies like Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas, but they are inferior compared to Commando
