The former boxing champion, who attended UFC 168 in Las Vegas Saturday night, told MMAFighting.com that his top choice has always been to box Silva but now that that's off the table, he's very interested in boxing Nick Diaz. Jones Jr. said he told UFC president Dana White about his desire to box Diaz, and White told him he'd think about it. Given Diaz's contract with the UFC, White would obviously have to be on board with the idea for the fight to happen...

RJJ is my favorite boxer and Nick Diaz my favorite fighter but even I could not care less about this.

I'll probably still end up watching if it happens though

I'd like to see it, just to see a highly ranked MMA fighter in a boxing match against a legit opponent.

This doesn't make any sense IMO. I'd watch it, but I really couldn't care less whether it happens or not.

I think Jones would eat Diaz alive en route to a 12-0 unanimous decision, unless he managed to KO him, and I could see that happening as well.

This all day

RJJ is a PROFESSIONAL boxer. A fucking GOOD one at that. Old or not RJJ would eat alive most if not all MMA fighters in a BOXING match. There is nothing MMA fighters could throw at him that he hasnt already seen before whem it comes to BOXING

okay bring on the nuthuggers

Depends how much extra crossover revenue from boxing fans there may be and what the UFC feels they may gain from this. If they felt it was a lose-lose this'll probably be the last we hear of it. Hard to see any MMA fighter beating a former world champion boxer as recent as a half decade ago tho, who has remained active (RJJ just won a fight last weekend).

Diaz would go to bed. He tends to use his face to block punches. RJJ is not the kind of guy you want to do that with.

Yeah, this is is a mismatch on the level of Couture / Toney. Diaz is tough with good body shots and excellent cardio, but his footwork and hand speed are leagues behind RJJ. And though RJJ is years past his prime, he'd turn Diaz into a used maxi-pad.

Hey Roy, why don't you call out Junior dos Santos?

This fight would be awesome if it was in the octagon boxing only rules with mma gloves.

JDS is much bigger, but I wouldn't be surprised if RJJ still tooled him if that fight ever happened.

I totally agree with the mma gloves. It would make for a cool fight but I don't even think Nick would be down for the octagon. He's always advocating pride everything.
