UFC president Dana White made that announcement at the UFC 168 post-fight press conference on Saturday night, surprising many, as he doesn’t usually announce fights that quickly. And it does make for a very quick turn-around for Ronda Rousey, coming off of her third-round armbar submission of Miesha Tate on Saturday night.

Dana White at it again

Hurry up, Cyborg. Rousey's gonna try and retire before she has to fight you.

I don't think many people will be buying this PPV either.

There is a good chance that the winner of this fight will hold the belt for some time to come.

Rousey via arm-bar at some point during the fight. I'll AV bet on it if anyone is brave enough to take McMann

I know we both like the Mary J but if one of us can remember, I'll gladly take this bet.

I realize McMann is probably the fighter most likely to have a chance against Rousey, but she has done nothing to earn this shot. She hasn't even fought a top 10 opponent. Zingano, Davis, and even Nunes are much more deserving.

Not suprised by this
UFC pushed back ticket sales for this event to Jan
Awesome card. Not upset for going to 171 Dallas instead

I agree with all of this. It's very strange to me that Rousey will be fighting so soon now that Cat Zingano is close to being ready. Well at least I think she is close. Earlier this month she was cleared to train jiu-jitsu and she will be allowed to start sparring in March.

And although McMann could beat Alexis Davis I do think Davis should have gotten this Title shot over her.
Davis has 2 Decision wins over Carmouche and Sexton since arriving at the UFC and McMann has a 1st Round stoppage over Gaff, a fighter who is no longer employed by the UFC.

Not a good headliner. they better have a hell of a co-main event

I agree, and I believe, as of right now at least, that Cormier/Evans is the co-main event.

Although I'm interested in Cormier/Evans, I don't see this event doing well at all.

Rousey vs McMann-Main Event
Evans vs Cormier-Co Main
MacDonald vs Maia
dos Anjos vs Khabilov
Pyle vs Waldburger
Assuncao vs Rivera
and Whitaker vs Thompson

That's the card so far. I like Pyle vs Waldburger but not part of the PPV portion. Maybe have that one close out the FS1 prelims.
Unless they plan on Assuncao vs Rivera as the PPV opener, I say they need 1 more good fight.

I forgot all about Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Gilbert Melendez.

So yeah Pyle vs Waldurger will definitely go to the FS1 prelims.

Perhaps, but the 135 female division needs more coverage. Having another quick turnaround for a title fight, against a hyped opponent like McMann that Rousey has personally called out, is much more intriguing than another fighter who is basically no name but has a few more UFC fights under their belt.

Remember the heavyweight division before Brock signed on? It sucked. His title fight, while maligned for the longest time, was the shot in the arm that the division needed in terms of hype.

Rousey calling out someone doesn't really register much with casual UFC fans. Its a risky move on the part of matchmakers to open up Rousey to this big a "risk" after investing so much into her.

The UFC heavyweight division was pretty sorry before Brock's time, but the seeds were already sown for the development of that division before he joined up. Cain and JDS were both fighting with the UFC around that time, and its unrealistic to think that most of the other guys that currently exist among the UFC top 10 HWs wouldn't have shown up anyway.
