Imagine a time... not too long ago. We had UFC, Pride, Strikeforce, Elite XC, IFL, WEC, Affliction... then they were absorbed. We got the superfights. We got the new weight classes. And from it all, who would predict that the WEC would produce the most UFC champions?

Demetrious Johnson, Renan Barao (Dominick Cruz), Jose Aldo, Anthony Pettis. (and Bendo before him) All former WEC fighters/champions. Johny Hendricks, who should have the 170lb belt by rightful decision, was also in the WEC first. Of course the statistical odds of a former WEC champ winning a sub-155 title would have to be considered much greater, but still... it's awesome to see the promotion living on through these fighters and their success.

Don't forget Condit. He was a WEC champion back in 07/08.

I'm not really surprised at all the 155 and under WEC champs I mean majority of the UFC fighter's fought in the WEC.

I'm pretty impressed with Strikeforce fighter's mostly because I thought Strikeforce were inferior then both WEC and UFC fighter's. I mean Robbie Lawler could have gold, Souza could get gold, and Melendez has a chance as well.

If you told me a former Strikforce fighter would win 170 or 185 gold, I would have slapped your face for the disrespect.

Yeah they have the most sub 155 title holders...they were the only organization with sub 155 fighters...EliteXC, Steikeforce, IFL...if they had any at all it may have been 145, and not a healthy amount of fighters either. All those other orgs had fighters at 155 and higher, but not a high number of fighters to create a shark tank of competition (exception being Pride). Pretty soon (3years) the UFC will not be missing a wt class, Men from 125 and up, Women from at least 115 but maybe 105 all the way through 145.

I wish they would replay the old WEC stuff. some of the greatest fights in MMA happened there, and now all those tapes seem to be lost. I'm sure I could track them down, but I would love to see them on TV. Good way to pass the time. I'd love to re-watch Korean Zombie vs Garcia 1 again.

UFC will always be the best for bringing these organizations together so we could have the super fights we wanted and all the top comp together

UFC did get pride
Wec and strikeforce
Not to mention affliction.

Just grabbed invictas straweight class

They are trying to bring the best fights possible

Wish boxing was the same
One promotion one belt per weight class not three of four
Have less weight classes.

I think its a tie between Pride and WEC

From PRIDE you had Big Nog (interim HW), Rampage, Shogun, and even Anderson Silva all win gold after lengthly stints in Pride.

I think its even mote interesting Rampage/Anderson had some success but became pegendary status when they came to the UFC though Rampage was lot more exciting inPRIDE but alot better under Ibara.

I miss the WEC kind of though. The little guys got so much more respect and had some crazy fights. Will never forget Torres at his best or epic fights like Torres-Meade (sp), Faber/Pulver, and Cerrone/Bendo 1
