Seems getting a sub is easy money these days. We're averaging one per event, making that one guy automatic SOTN winner. Maybe they should just have two "Finishes of the Night" and not be pinned down like that, as Lombard's KO was far more impressive than Ferguson here.

Don't worry...they are about to start giving official bonuses to every finish on a card.
I just made that up.
But I hope!

I hope, at least in the instance of this card, that every single fighter gets a bonus. Even C.B. Dolloway.

Great fight. Fight of the year candidate for sure, but definitely not the greatest UFC fight ever as Rogan and Goldberg were saying.

Yeah, multiple guys could've been given awards for KOTN last night.

What an event.

I think it was easily the best three-rounder of all time.

I'm not sure what other fight could compete with it. I definitely enjoyed it more than Griffin/Bonnar personally.

My only problem with placing it as the best 3 rounder ever is that I never got the feeling Melendez was ever in trouble of losing. I know he got rocked in the 3rd, but I still always felt he would come out ok and the win was guaranteed once it went to the cards. For me, the greatest fights have to have you on the edge of your seat with no idea who will win if it makes it to the judges. That's what made Hendo/Shogun, Jones/Gustofson, Edger/Maynard, Bonnar/Griffin, Henderson/Pettis 1, etc. Still a great fight and Im taking nothing away from either fighter.

He had his back taken multiple times, including once in the first ten seconds of the fight. It wasn't "close" but there was enough danger value to make it exciting.

This

Personally I don't really need that element of not knowing who's going to win for me to enjoy the fight more than other fights anyways. All of the fights you listed were epic fights for sure, but I enjoyed Melendez/Sanchez more than all of those fights with the exception of maybe Hendo/Shogun, but it's close for me.

Pettis is one of my top three favorite fighters currently, but I don't think his first fight with Bendo was as exciting as Melendez/Sanchez. Edgar/Maynard wasn't even close IMO.

Bones/Gus was great, but it sounds like most people are agreeing that Melende/Sanchez is more deserving of FOTY.

At the end of the day it's all a matter of opinion.

Imo if Sanchez had kept hitting him after that sweet uppercut he could have got the TKO, but he tried to take the back again. sweet fight though

Who votes for these things? Lombard KO'd Nate with a tiger uppercut lol I second that "Finish of the night" awards.
