According to UFC President Dana White, Fabricio Werdum likely is the next challenger to Cain Velasquez's heavyweight title. White made the announcement immediately following UFC 166.

IMO Werdum doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell after what I just witnessed

As it should be, Werdum is hte only HW right now that poses a legit threat to Cain imo and that's solely based on his ability to finish the fight in many different ways. His striking has improved, and his BJJ is the best in the HW division. I imagine Cain uses a similar strategy against Werdum as he did with JDS, lot of cage work, take downs and just wearing him out because these guys do not have the conditioning that Cain does. He just needs to be careful, I think Werdum is far more dangerous in the clinch than JDS is. Good fight.

Fabricio Werdum is really the only guy who seems deserving of a shot right now at HW. Browne might be with another win or two. Maybe Stipe 2-3 fights down the road?

And they say Jon Jones is short on credible challengers...

Cain should stomp Werdum, but I'll forever be worried about his chin.

Werdums guard is a legitamate deterrent for Cain's close the distance tactics.

Gameplan wise it should lead to Cain employing a rough kickboxing style. Werdum should look better jn that type of fight than most expect.

If Browne wins one more then he will be up there as well. Especially if he handles Barnett in a dominant fashion.

HW division just got boring IMO.

I don't think any of these guys can pose a real threat to Cain.

Agreed, and as much as I dislike Barnett I think the same goes for him if he's able to defeat Browne in dominant fashion.

At this point you could put anyone in the cage and Cain is going to kill them. Now, I know they're teamates but if Cormier wants to stay at heavyweight, thats a fight I would pay to see.

I don't believe Werdum will be able to hang with Cain where this fight will take place, that place being wherever Cain wants it to. I think the shots JDS took Saturday are the type that will floor Werdum. Now if he plays possum right he could get dropped and lure Cain into something on the ground, but I'd be surprised to see Cain have that type of mental lapse given the scene that unfolded with Werdum's greatest ever victory. I give Werdum a 1 out of 80 chance to win right now.
