BARUERI, Brazil – After kidney stones forced a recent cancellation of his bout at Wednesday's UFC Fight Night 29 event, Rodrigo Damm's days as a featherweight are likely over.

if he is struggling to beat half decent 145ers, this is not going to go well for him

I was just wondering what promotion he was going to fight for at lightweight

I think he'll do better at 155 since he won't be cutting as much weight.

I submit that losing at 155 is still better than going to the hospital from renal failure at 145...and losing at 145.

I'm not questioning his decision, health is priority, but if he can't beat guys like Carvalho or Wilcox or Mitsuoka at 145, who is he going to beat at 155? At this point Antonio McKee and Toby Imada probably would have little problems with Damm, let alone who's on the UFC roster

Rogrigo is 5'7" and not particularly bulky. Seriously, Gleison Tibau is 5'10" and has significantly more mass. Its hard to imagine him not getting bullied by almost anyone at lightweight. I don't understand how he's having this much trouble with what should be a fairly inconsequential weight cut unless he's doing something seriously wrong. Unless Damm has next to no aspirations of being a top fighter and/or making good money he might as well figure out how to make 145 or retire.

They should weigh fighters 1 week before a fight and allow only like a 10 lb weight cut or something...especially in lieu of the recent death in Brazil.

A weight cut will not win you championships...you either have it or you don't

Not to pick a fight but cutting ALOT of weight certainly helped Ben Henderson & Forrest Griffin earn belts. I don't think its fair to guys who know how to properly cut weight to not be allowed to cut as much because of one unfortunate situation. Just my 2 cents

I think the weight cut is a secondary issue. I think the primary issue has to do more about not having clean filtered drinking water in that region.
