I dont remember Gus limping as bad so those "significant strikes" to the leg weren't very effective

Yeah but Jones hurt his foot on Gus head. Do remember that?

you mean when Gus blocked 90% of the kicks?

I still haven't had a chance to see the fight, but the FightMetric stats make it look like Jones absolutely dominated the striking.

Just curious where u got 90% from ?

Those head kicks were brutal even if they were blocked.

I had it 48-47 to jones as well. Like most are saying the second round was the closest. Anyone who is saying it was a robbery didn't watch the fight close enough. Very close but definitely no robbery here.

Props to the mauler, I completely underestimated him before the fight... Now I know not to do that again.

I'm watching the fight for the 4th time as I'm writing this an now I'm very confident that it's 48-47 for jones.

The 2nd round which everyone has been talking about was close but it goes to jones for sure. Gustaffsin landed some flush punches, but jones landed the shot of the round which was a left elbow and multiple hard body and leg kicks, also a head kick. He was coming forward for that round and for majority of the fight for that matter controlling the pace and the octagon.

In the 4th Gustafson was definitely winning up until he got hurt with the elbow late in the round. If he didn't get caught with that then I would say Gustafson would be the new champ. After watching the fight many times, that elbow made all the difference.

Just again, this was an epic fight at the highest of quality

Rounds 4 and 5 were to Jones. The first 3 rounds were close so its not unreal that Jones took one of those. Personally gave it to Jones 48-47

I got it from seeing his hand almost always at his head blocking the kicks. Very few were flush shots, everyone is making it seem he was Cro Cop circa 2006

No they aren't, if they were cro cop kicks then he would have ko'd him. Like I said in my above posts I seen the fight multiple times and those head kicks, especially in the later rounds were brutal.. The hand covering the head offers little relief from the impact.

2, 4, & 5 for Jones. Jones came close to finishing in the 4th. I personally would be fine with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson fighting each other once a year for the next 3 years. Great fight!

48-47 Gustafsson, close fight, not the easiest to score, room for lots of margin.
1 Gus
2 Gus
3 Gus
4 Jones
5 Jones

Thought it was closer to 49-46 Gus the 48-47 Jones. I thought Jones won the 4th round by the smallest amount, closer then any other round, Gus had it won but Jones comeback in that round with 30 seconds left brought him back up and over. Had a feeling the Judges were gonna go Jones though, but when the score cards were read and one of them was 49-46, I thought there was no way Gus loses now. Surprise, surprise.

Called into question also

Before:

After:

Shady, the live stats are never perfect but the discrepancy here is significantly large, more so then typical of FM. When I saw them, the original stats looked more like what I expected the stats to look like after the fight, the stats from the second image, not even close.
