ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Fights get called off all the time, sometimes even on the day of the fight. But this one was a rarity.

Elvis Mutapcic, set to make his promotional debut at World Series of Fighting 5 on Saturday night against Jesse Taylor, was scratched by the New Jersey Athletic Control Board for allegedly taking a medication pre-fight that wasn't disclosed to the commission.

Mutapcic said a woman on the commission said she saw him take a pill. He said his manager, helping work his corner, merely took his heart medication. And then Mutapcic said the commission worker even changed her story later to say the fighter didn't take the pill.

I'm not a lawyer or anything close to it but I think Elvis has legit grounds if he plans on suing the commission like he said he does. He passed the drug test & the New Jersey state commission does appear to be back tracking

Dude passed his own test, Sefo could give him just a small amount of $ to prevent a stink and put this fight on asap for the fans and fighters.

What was this woman thinking? Good to see Elvis put it on himself to clear his name.

Him and Taylor both got their fight money. They announced that during the fights yesterday.

How would it clear his name?

His cornerman apparently had over 5 different undeclared drugs in pill form in a bottle on his way to the fight. The fact he was caught with them and the commission removed them, is kinda important relative to the fighter taking a drug test, as it makes his drug test irrelevant. There MIGHT have been intent to use the drugs during the fight, maybe not, but WHY did his corner have them at all?

The commission statement is pretty clear on what is and isn't allowed into a fighters corner, and a box of random medication certainly ain't on it.

Christ, we're trying to fight for the image of this sport, yet randomly defending situations like this.

This sucks for Elvis, months of training and hard work gone to waste because his coach took heart medicine? Unreal.
