The UFC president told CBS that he doesn't expect Dutch Heavyweight Stefan Struve to ever fight again due to a 'rip in his heart.'

I like Struve. Never started any controversy and was always fun to watch Win/Lose

Wish him luck

Im sure he will have a job somewhere that is MMA related

Lol. A rip in his heart eh. A leaking aortic valve is not a rip, unless it's dissected, then that's big a deal. It is normal for a person his size to have an enlarged heart. It just depends how enlarged it is. His aorta is most likely dilated as well, which could be causing the leakage. If it's moderate or less regurgitation, it's not a big deal.

Damn, that sucks...just was hoping that he was going to learn how to use his reach to see how good his potential could really be.

Big fan of Struve, this news sucks. I hope he is able to recover and have at least 1 more fight and go out on a high note

His heart has to work 30% harder than someone his size without the missing tri cuspid in the tricuspid valve. The enlargement I would guess is due to his original condition, since he is more or less only getting 70% of the bang for his buck. I can certainly see how he would not be cleared to fight. It might not be for fear of heart damage but because at a high level of stress he could simply pass out.

So he has a bicuspid aortic valve? I didn't see anything about that. It seems there is a lot of missing info.

It was in an older article when it was first determined he had a heart problem. This one was definitely lacking, probably because it was just a DFW interview.
bad heart
