What do you think are the biggest fights in the history of the sport?

Use any criteria you like: results, hype, match up, impact, magnitude, star power, etc., anything.

I have a list of ten, I'll post it later if anyone bites. Hate asking a question to others then up and answering it before anyone else.

I think the fight with Cain and JDS thats coming up is huge. The fights that go 1-1 always make for an exciting trilogy.

Couture coming back from retirement and kicking Tim Silvia's ass will forever be one of the greatest HW fights for me.

Fedor vs. Cro Cop is still the biggest heavyweight showdown in the history of MMA IMO.

Overeem vs. Lesnar was the biggest, a lot of freakish athleticism and horse meat to tip the scales.

He's looking for HW fights.

And I have to disagree with your statement. Penn won the 1st round, but the 2nd and 3rd were clearly GSP's.

Under PRIDE rules BJ would have won based on damage but in the 10 pt must system I don't know how you could score either of the last 2 rounds in his favor, or how you could award a 10-8 in the first round.

I agree. BJ came out strong in the first but did nothing in the second and third rounds.

Cain vs Leaner. At the time it looked like Lesner was going to bully everybody.

There are several that come to mind. Most have been said.

Fedor/Cro Cop - Maybe the biggest fight Pride ever put on. Two of the scariest men on the planet at that time fighting each other.

Couture/Sylvia - The return of Randy Couture at Heavyweight. Couture defied the odds in this one, proving age is just a number.

Lesnar/Couture - Couture's return to the UFC against the most promising heavyweight prospect the division had ever seen.

Lesnar/Mir 2 - Main Event for UFC 100, champ vs. interim champ, the fight that proved Lesnar wasn't just a name.

Velasquez/Dos Santos - The first mma fight on FOX. Considered strong enough by itself to introduce the UFC to a brand new audience.

Velasquez/Dos Santos III - Self explanatory at this point. Rubber match between the two best Heavyweights the UFC has ever had under contract.

Fedor Vs Cro Cop
Fedor Vs Big Nog
Randy vs Sylvia (My first event it was amazing!)
Big ups to Lesnar vs Mir 1 I remember being jacked out of my mind for that fight.
Fedor Vs AA I remember feeling like it was important at the time.
Edit:
GDPofMPG I was typing mine as you posted yours. I gotta spread the love but as you can see I agree with a lot of yours.
