Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will make a long-discussed drop to middleweight, and his first test will be a military hero – on a military base.

Honestly, I can't get excited for this fight. I hope Machida knocks him out early.

I do like that he's giving Middleweight a try though. There are some interesting fights for him there. This just isn't one of them.

Machida by unanimous decision

I'm excited to see how well he can perform at middleweight.

Pretty lame fight imo. I honestly don't get too excited for Machida fights anymore and Kennedy fights even less haha
I wonder if he'll have some more motivation to make a run for the belt at 185, especially if Anderson loses again.

Wow. So many possibilities with Machida at 185 and they give him Tim Kennedy. Poor matchmaking...

This is a good fight for Machida to test the water at 185. If Machida wins this one I can see the UFC matching him up with a top contender right away.

If you think about it from the standpoint that Machida "lost" to a wrestler in his last fight, it makes sense to set him up with another fighter with a grapple-heavy game. I don't know that Machida has ever fought at 185, and he definitely hasn't in the UFC. Thus he is an unproven commodity in the division.

I actually really like this match. The military man, fighting on base, against the Karate master/former world champion? This has the storyline of an 80's ninja flick or something, so I'm all about it

I hope Machida beats the breaks off him. I respect him as a soldier but the guy is a tool.

I like this just because Machida is dropping to 185. I guess if Anderson loses to Weidman again (which he won't) Machida will make a serious run at the title

I love you guys but the rules on the PG are getting far more relaxed. I haven't seen a MOD post in a while but when I see someone post about Kennedy normally a couple of people will fighter bash but

"(Which he won't)" I'm pretty sure that's posting opinion as fact. Again not deliberately putting you on the spot and you are not the first person to do this by any means. Just one case of many recently and I don't know how the rules have slipped this much

Same. I really want to like him for his military service and what he's done for the country, but he comes across as a real tool and he's not fun to watch fight at all. He's definitely a skilled fighter, but I think he gets more credit than he's worth because of the military background.
