Bellator CEO, Bjorn Rebney, states the company doesn't plan to stand in the way of their welterweight champion, Ben Askren, should he decide to move on to the UFC.

Gota sting after the fuss they kicked up to keep Alvarez.

This is just a negotiating ploy, Rebney wants Askren cheap or not at all. He's still interested, just not at any price.

If that's true, they are even more confused about their own business model than I previously thought.

Please send him to the UFC so he can go 0-3 and go back to the B-team with some humility.

Just like Bjorn wasn't going to sign any UFC castoff. Believe when I see it.

Askren is a tough guy I'd love to see him join the UFC's roster. I just have a hard time thinking Rebney is not interested in keeping the talent he helped build.

Ben negotiating bid just dropped
Dana probably can sign him cheap.
Why not. Sign him. Welterweights class is a shark tank
Drop him in see if he can survive

Didn't Dana learn his lesson with Fitch? Boring fighters don't sell cards.

A lot of comedy in this no matter where you stand on the issue.

I disagree, Ben could tool a decent amount of UFC WWs without even throwing a punch and that's not an exaggeration.

Yeah I think he could do well if they gave him some lower level strikers with poor takedown defense, but against most of the top ten guys I think he would get tooled. I'd take Matt Brown, Rory MacDonald, Hendrix even Jake Elenberger over him. I could see him grapple 'efing Condit and Diaz though. I think a lot of things that aren't true though. It would be fun to see in any case.

Ben Askren is not just another good college wrestler. He was a 4 time Division I NCAA finalist (won twice) & wrestled in the Olympics. His complete dominance is not boring in my opinion with TKO finishes in his past 2. I doubt he would beat GSP, but id' like his odds against everyone else in the UFC at WW.
