BOSTON – So what do you with Matt Brown, a once-journeyman fighter who's resurrected his career in MMA's most prominent organization while stringing together a staggering six consecutive UFC wins?

I like the confidence, but GSP would destroy Brown. I don't even think it would be competitive.

I really like Matt Brown and being from Cincinnati makes him one of my hometown favorites and Im really happy for him winning 6 fights in a row but to hear him talk is almost retarded Mike Pyle can beat GSP WTF? Until Brown beats somebody in the top 10 like RoryMac/Hendricks/Ellenberger/Condit/Maia he will never get a title shot but atleast he has earned the right to fight one of those guys. Keep it up Brown

Like I say to all my friends why not give him a title shot he cant do much worst then all of gsp's recent opponents. No 1 Has been close to beating GSP in a long time so why would it matter if they Gave brown a shot there will be no difference In matt Brown or jake shields or carlos condit. losing badly is losing badly no matter what way you look at it

i really like Matt. Hes been looking good lately. with wins over Swick, GSP's protege, and Mike Pyle all by the way of finishes he's been looking damn good! I don't think he quiet ready for GSP, but would definitely like to see him get a shot at someone around the top five. I'd prefer to see him fight a stand up fighter. Someone like Corlos, or McDonald. I do see him losing to a strong wrestler like GSP, Hendricks, or Jake Ellenberger.but I'm definitely behind the old timer for sure! War Brown!

I thought that's who he was talking about, but how is he GSP's protege?

I can barely find anything on Google that mentions both names in the same sentence.

You're probably right.

I say put Matt Brown against Nick Diaz next and then go from there. If Brown can beat Diaz, especially in the same sort of fashion that he's finished his last few opponents, then maybe he can start talking about GSP and not sound completely ridiculous in the process.

"I know I'd destroy GSP"

Like I said, I like the confidence, but at least prove yourself before you make these sorts of claims.

After a few more impressive wins from Brown, I'd love to see this fight.

Webbie said in another thread that they should match him up with Nick Diaz. I agree.

Honestly guys most of us wouldn't give anyone much of a chance against GSP. But that's why they fight 'um. Matt Brown has continually proven people wrong. His stand up and ESPECIALLY his ground game have vastly improved. He's tough as nails, he's aggressive, and he won't let GSP break his will.

I wanna see Brown vs GSP. His new found confidence makes me think he'll be in his face and against GSP that's what you need to do. I doubt he wins it but I am getting interested. His grappling might still be his weakness but what we've seen recently is Brown can finish the fight before the grappling begins.

In my opinion he's a little low down in the pecking order
1. Hendricks
2. Rory Mac
3. Maia
4. Robbie Lawler
5. Brown

Tarec has yet to actually fight in the UFC. Rory doesn't want GSP. Robbies next fight is Rory which is a stylistical nightmare. Kampmann, Ellenberger, Kos, Woodley, Condit and Diaz are coming off losses.

So in my eyes in a few months and strictly candidates for GSP:
1. Hendricks
2. Maia
3. Brown

Now Maia has to get past Shields and Hendricks is the number 1 contender right now. But if Hendricks gets injured I think the UFC would much rather have Brown in than Maia and besides, Maia isn't always injury free himself.

I think Brown is gonna be in the wings for any of these top guys incase they get injured.

I can't see Brown actually earning a title shot against GSP without beating either Hendricks, Condit, Rory, Maia, or Ellenberger, and I just can't see him getting past any of those guys. I honestly expect GSP to hang up his gloves and retire from the sport permanently before Brown ever earns a title shot.

If Brown is able to beat any of those guys, I'll be convinced that he's improved enough to battle it out with GSP. As of right now, I'm not sold on him.
