UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado has left Team Nogueira over a dispute stemming from the naming rights of a gym. On the way out, he aired some dirty laundry about how the team works and took some shots at former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

As the writer said, it does make for an interesting story. Doesn't seem as nasty or spiteful as many other gym disagreements in the past have been, but this is the first I heard Team Nog in that discussion.

Let's be honest.. He beat Kingsbury and Pokrajac. If it wasnt for the judges he'd be 4-1.

Seems unlikely, but it'd be really cool. Would definitely be some bad blood there.

i'd like it & it's not unreasonable to see it happening. all it takes to make a fight nowadays is a little shit talking.

I completely agree. He's definitely been on the wrong end of a few bad decisions.

Didn't catch the Pokrajac fight, but I agree that Maldonado beat Kingsbury - I even called that shortly after the fight. Kingsbury played a smart, tactical, points-based game, but I guarantee he felt worse the next day. And it's not like Maldonado was sat on for 14 minutes with a few counters, no - he was crushing Kingsbury consistently and in each round.

I think the way I originally put it is that Kingsbury's strategy seemed focused on not losing as opposed to winning. Unless the guy using that strategy has a clear advantage in time spent controlling the fight, I'm inclined to call the other guy the victor.
