Former Strikeforce champion, Gegard Mousasi came to UFC with the status of being one of the leading names in its category and a cartel of 33 wins and three defeats. And in his UFC debut, he pointed out another positive result, beating Ilir Latifi by unanimous decision.

Mousasi has already expressed willingness to face Vitor Belfort , and with the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman marked, the duel gained momentum. The fighter said in an interview with tatami, who wanted to marry the Ultimate UFC BH on the clash, scheduled for September 4, at the Gymnasium Mineirinho.

"The truth is: x Weidman Silva II will take place on December 28 at UFC 168. Vitor has to wait for the title shot after all. I know that the UFC wants this fight to happen (Mousasi Belfort x), since I offered it to the UFC BH in September. I could not accept the fight because I went through knee surgery, then it is inevitable that Victor and I are meeting before determining who is the first title challenger. My opinion is that we should also fight at UFC 168, "said Mousasi, commenting on the constant application of the" Phenomenon "to fight for the belt.

"It's simple: Vitor and I would fight in the past, before the Affliction, the UFC now. Vitor knows that it is inevitable that we will meet in the Octagon. "

title is misleading, he turned down the fight in the past due to knee surgery. title made it seem he turned it down as if he was offered the fight recently

Same here. That's what I want to see next for both guys. Very entertaining matchup on paper.

Actually it says he was offered the fight for the UFC card in Belo Horizonte in September so it couldn't have been too long ago.

I just hope they line this up, Belfort no matter how deserving is unfortunately on the back burner due to the rematch so it's a good fight to keep him active. Not sure if Mousassi deserves such a good fight considering his UFC accolades but we know better.
