Daniel Cormier wants Roy Nelson to stick around the UFC just a little longer.

Cormier told MMAFighting.com on Thursday that he wants to fight Nelson at UFC 166 on Oct. 19 in Houston in what will be his last fight at heavyweight.

It strikes me that Cormier might truly want to fight Big Country for personal reasons. Usually pre-fight drama seems 100% manufactured. In Cormier's case, he's got nothing to gain from fighting Nelson who is a tough, well-rounded fighter with one-punch KO potential (but not currently even in the top 10). Granted, I think Cormier will come out on top. His wrestling is amazing, and his striking is astonishing good considering how recently he took it up. Its just a lot less potentially rewarding than calling out the champ and a lot less dangerous than calling out a less threatening mid-level guy like Big Nog or Gonzaga.

Gimme a break, he didn't take the fight b4, now Stipe puts an end to Nelson's win streak, and he wants the fight. It makes no sense to match DC up with Nelson or anyone else coming off a loss. He should just fight Werdum, Stipe, or the Alistair-Browne winner.
