Jon Jones on Anderson Silva: 'He got disrespectful, war gods made him pay'

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones was openly critical of recently deposed middleweight champ Anderson Silva during a press conference today in support of his fight with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165.

"It's just a reality check. I try to keep my ego in check when it comes to the fight game, and watching Anderson lose like that – first of all, it's something I would never do, put my hands down and fight my opponent that way. But watching Chris Weidman's dream come true, I have to make sure to be a dream crusher."

I find this hilarious coming from Jon Jones of all people. He isn't exactly the most "respectful" fighter inside the cage.

He can be disrespectful at times, but he isn't on an Anderson Silva level by any means.

Definitely not, but I hope he stays away from that even more now after what he saw happen to Anderson. So far that's been my only issue with Jones is that he does keep his hands a little low at times and he likes to dance around like Ali. I just hope he doesn't keep that up.

I'm glad he got cocky and ko'd, I've been waiting for him to lose for years. But I agree with Jones here, you you fuck around and karma has a way of finding you

I've never seen Jones do anything close to the antics of Silva. Jones does a lot of flashy wierd stuff (that usualy works) but he dosn't taunt, drop his hands, ask to be hit etc. Jones just destroys for the most part.

I bet you everyone at LHW is pissed then, cause if jones doesn't get egotistical in the ring, he is unstoppable

I like that Silva drops his hands and gets cocky. Its entertaining and he usually finishes the guy afterwards. The guy loves Roy Jones Jr and he was known for that type of shit.

Real bummed he lost, but in a way i'm glad it happened the way he did. He wasn't outclassed, was winning arguably up until he got caught.

And he also does that thing where he opens a round by crawling around on all fours.

I don't necessarily think fighters should be respectful inside the cage, just outside of it.
I personally love how Anderson talks zero shit before a fight, then talks all kinds of shit during it.
I rather that then the other way around.

Anderson is one of the best ever. But if Anderson was half as good as everyone acts wouldn't he know Weidman was a dangerous style match up and not play around. A lot of other people saw it, but apparently he didn't.

I completely agree with Jones.

I think this was a reality check for Anderson (and apparently for Jones as well.)

The dude got to the point where he thought he was invincible and he completely disrespected Weidman. The way he was fighting that fight, you could tell he wasn't taking his opponent seriously. That is always a mistake. Anyone can catch anyone and is this case Wediman was a legit threat.

Hopefully he stops pouting and decides to take his rematch so he can reclaim the belt and get back to where he belongs, on the top.

I don't disagree with Jones, I just think it's funny coming out of his mouth. Obviously he doesn't go nearly as far as Anderson with his arrogance or showboating, but he definitely messes around a bit.
