Ask and you shall receive.

Hector Lombard played matchmaker less than two weeks ago, officially announcing he'd cut to 170 pounds and that he wanted a fight against former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nate Marquardt.

It wasn't the first time he'd asked for the fight either. Lombard has wanted a piece of Marquardt for over two years now, hearkening back to his Bellator days when "The Great" was originally kicked from UFC for elevated levels of testosterone.

MMAFighting has confirmed that Lombard vs. Marquardt will go down at UFC 166 this fall (Oct. 19, 2013) in Houston's Toyota Center.

I'd love to see Lombard make a run at WW. I think he has a good of chance as anyone at WW to dethrone GSP.

This is a really interesting match up. I'm not sure who will win but a win for either guy here is much needed and will definitely push them back up the ladder

Marquardt is a tough opponent for Lombard's first fight at Welterweight.

So he has as good a chance as papy abedi?
I agree though, as long as the cut isn't too much for him he should make waves. Had his fight vs boestch not been so lame he could have been making some waves at mw as well. Marquardt shall make a nice stepping stone

Marquardt needs this win badly. Even if he does win he still needs another decent win or two in order to earn his way back into respectability. Lombard just may take his head off and knock Nate farther into the depths of no man's land. At his best Marquardt would and should destroy Lombard but we have seen very little of Marquardt's best in years. Lombard kind of needs a win too. His grand entrance into the big leagues turned into a real disappointment.

This should be an excellent fight for sure. I'm expecting a win for Lombard, but an exciting fight either way it goes.

I don't want to jump the shark but Papi Abedi has enough talent to be the next Philip Noever.
