Ahead of his UFC debut at UFC 162, Tim Kennedy rips UFC fighter pay, claiming that he has to work another job because he makes so little fighting on the world's biggest stage.

Thats funny that Kenny says how his pay is broken up but thinks the problem is the UFC.

Kennedy sent a detailed breakdown of how his fight purse would be divided up: 13% on gym fees, 12% for nutrition, 10% to his manager, 10% to his coach, 8% on his camp lodging, 3% for fight medicals and 3% on equipment. In total, that’s 59% of his fight purse before tax is deducted.

So let me get this right your paying out 59% of your pay to other people and its the UFC fault.

Kennedy may be a "military hero" but every time this guy speaks he says something stupid. I get the impression that if he loses to Gracie then he's gone but sadly he'll probably win and then complain about his pay some more. Go be a garbage man if it pays more then.

Boo how had I put the time and effort I did at my current job into something for myself I know for a fact I would be making far more money. But I didn't only have myself to blame.

Curse you Kennedy telling fan's the truth about being a fighter. Now he does give a lot to his gym, but he does train at AKA with many top coaches and fighter's and no doubt it pay's off, but I would like to see what other top gym's are in comparison.

But he had better keep winning, wouldn't be surprised if he get's past Gracie that he get's Bisping who will just stay on the outside and pick him apart like Rockhold

Seen some poor fella at a Hooters parking lot laid out on teh ground earlier.....now, I say poor fella cuz he had only $5.00 in his pocket.....Timmy is that you??

I'm a Republican, I only dish out 2% of my wallet (only girls have purses) to my "fight camp" and that's only because they are lucky enough to carry my $500.00 luggage.

I find it amazing and quite disrespctful how a lot of these guys like Kennedy, Rampage, Fitch, Volkmann etc bitch about how little they are paid. They are the ones who signed and agreed the contract with the UFC in the first place. IF the terms do not suit, don't sign on the dotted line, take your trade elsewhere, no one is forcing you to sign these deals that make you the house hold names you are, and richer beyond the dreams of most normal fans who would love to be in your position, yet help pay your wages...............................................Rant over

They are pretty much essential costs though. No gym is going to let you train for free, no manager is going to work for free this is a pretty accurate breakdown and its sad that a guy who is well known pockets maybe 10k for a fight. I sure as hell wouldn't do it for the money the average fighter is on. I understand that the likes of Silva, GSP an other old champs pick up good money but if you weigh less than 205lb your pay is balls an its getting harder for the ufc to deny that.

I've never been a fan of the favoritism in payment shown to the bigger guys.

I don't expect them to work for free but everything he listed is negotiable. He is clearly paying to much of a % out and that is clearly not the UFCs fault but his and his managers fault. My advice to Kennedy would be get a better manager.

I pocket about 15% of my gross a year. Would love to trade with Kennedy.

This is ridiculous. If you care so much about money and can make more being a garbage man, THEN GO BE A GARBAGE MAN (garbage men actually make a pretty damn good salary in some cities). Oh...wait...you fight because you like to do it? Then SHUT UP. Yeah, I agree, it sucks how much more some of the top guys get paid. Lets put Tim Kennedy at the headline of a card without any of the big sellers on it, and give him some percentage of the PPV money. I bet he barely makes more than he is right now. BIG NAMES = BIG MONEY.
