UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is widely considered the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, but he believes BJ Penn is the best.

i got a lot of respect for Penn for what he's done, but at this point, and as hard as it it for me to admit, silva is the greatest of all time. the dude has fought and beat everybody there was to fight and finished most of them.

BJ Penn isn't a bad choice, but clearly the correct choice is Chris Leben.

The fuck is going on today?!?!
BJ Penn has won only 1 out of 6 of his past fights...one...homie fights, he is tough, but he refuses to do anything other than box which leaves glaring holes in his game. He gets outwrestled consistently by anyone even close to the top ten, and he is usually out shape. This is a key basic foundation of being a fighter, just being in shape.
Now the last three post I have read have been way off mark! BJ is the #1 P4P GOAT, Bellator raping Alvarez's career, and apparently Matt Brown can just simply beat down GSP. This is too much for me for one day. It makes me wish I still smoked weed.

Oh, almost forgot to mention that a fighter announced that he was going to fight in a new and lighter wt class after coming off a long time out due to a leg ligament injury.

There is only so much I can handle. How about some news like: Silva vs Jones has been signed and will be contested at LHW on NYE in Madison Square Garden.

Someone who has won only one fight out of 6
Is not greatest of all time. There could be a argument for tito Ortiz with these records

what's funny is anderson would probably get flamed if he said he is the greatest of all time even though he pretty much is

BJ had among the best skill sets. I don't know about the best. His problem was always motivation and staying in shape.

Who did he ever get out wrestled by though? I though he out wrestled Fitch. Frankie and Diaz both out boxed him, with Diaz being the only one who REALLY out boxed him. GSP is the only dude to out wrestle him, but he had a massive size advantage and he's the best take down guy in MMA. Hughes out wrestled him, but only in the third round of the fight after BJ was gassed.

So basically he's been out wrestled by two massive WW champions. Both times he was tired out in the early rounds. He also defended GSP takedowns in their first fight and out wrestled Fitch.

I didn't read the article but skill set wise its not a far stretch to think at one time BJ's gave was on a level with Anderson Fedor GSP. His body of work clearly pulls him down.

If Anderson said that before GSP-Penn 2 I don't think many would disagree.
