WINNIPEG – Roy Nelson is in an interesting position on Saturday night, fighting in Canada for the first time. He's on the last fight of his current deal. But with a fourth straight win, UFC boss Dana White said he wouldn't put himself in line for a heavyweight title shot.

Nelson is too stubborn for his own good. He can't beat anyone at the top of the division but could make LHW in a couple of months if he took a serious approach to diet and exercise. He has absolutely no future at the elite status as a heavyweight.

Stubborn or not, he definitely deserves a shot. If not soon, when?

time also has something to do with it..his mid-30's..and has always been a big guy..alot of older fighters dont like to make weight cut at that stage of their career..he may not beat the top guys, but remember lesser fighters have gotten a title shot, and they didnt finish fights like Nelson has and all in the 1st round..but theres alot of hungry young fighters at LHW..too much, too late..but stay and one day hopefully with the help of the internet, he'll get a title shot..just gotta keep calling Dana out and he'll def respond..lol

You cant give him a title shot before Werdum after the asswhoopinh he handed Nelson.

Then theres JDS with a fight scheduled against Velasquez, and cormier pulling a franklin.

Too many people in line with better cases for a shot.

Big Country vs. Cormier. That sounds like a great fight. It would be a good test for both fighters.and it seems to make sense as well.

After Nelson's Uncle Tom comment about Cormier this could happen sooner rather than later.

However I read somewhere that this fight is his last on his current contract and hes's thus far refused to sign a new one. I think Dana's patience has finally run out and this could be the last we see of Nelson in the Octagon for a while.

That is in the posted article, here's my take on Roy:
He fucked up his TUF deal by coming off as a douche bag for a coach, he can't stay consistent and put together a win streak, he never uses his ground game anymore and that is where his big advantage has been in the past, he is fat and heavily bearded and runs his mouth constantly...but we love him! Exciting fighter that keeps my ass in the chair! Think before you act Dana!! THINK!!!

Good point, no way he deserves a title shot over Werdum after he kicked Big Country's ass and subbed Nog. And JDS is the #1 contender without a doubt so I don't think Dana is hating he has 2 legitimate fighters above Nelson on the ladder!!!

There's a big difference between "cutting weight" and "not being fat". He could slim down to 205lbs and never shed a drop of water before stepping on that scale. Realistically, he'd make a better Middleweight but that would require a weight cut.

If he wins this weekend they definitely need to give him a step up in competition. The only problem with that is almost every elite HW has beaten him up.

If he wins and Reem wins they should square up. Reem should be able to cool him off.

I agree Big Country doesnt deserve a title shot... YET! But a couple more W's & I'd like to see if he can land his signature haymaker on the champ

Could u imagine if Big Country was the champ?! Dana would SNAP! It would be like Stone Cold versus Vince McMahon all over again

What's he going to do, sit at home? Sign with Bellator for way less?

Win this one, fight a Top Fiver and get your shot.

I saw Dana say that if he wins this one he gets a rematch with Werdum
