Glover Teixeira knows Alexander Gustafsson and Lyoto Machida are likely ahead of him in the pecking order, but if the UFC needs an opponent for light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones, the Brazilian said he's ready to go.

Well that would great, if he wasn't hurt...more than likely it will be Gus or Chida that needs a fill in fight.

I think that Glover Teixeira might be the biggest threat to Jon Jones' title reign.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I'd say him or Machida are probably the biggest threats to him. Machida proved he was a threat in their first fight in the first round, which I believe he won hands down. As for Glover he has good striking, a bjj black belt, though admittedly we've never really seen him on his back. His top game is strong. Probably one of the stronger top games in MMA. Any time you have that kind of power in your hands you are a threat to anyone on any given night.

Glover is a threat however, he will not beat Jones.

Beat a top 5 fighter then you can throw your name in there Glover.

I think Glover is a fight or two away. He needs to beat a big name, yeah he beat Rampage, but Rampage is at the end of his career. One or two more big fights and he will be there. As to him being a threat, I dont think so, at least not against Jones.

Have to agree with this. The Rampage win was okay, but that was the worst possible Rampage. It is good that he is eager to fight the champ, but he isn't ready for Jones, and he doesn't deserve to be in title contention yet.

Who cares about his credentials, the last time the title fight was open only Chael accepted. At least Glover is putting himself out there where it seems nobody wants to be.

As great as he is, does anyone think Jones is surviving challenges from Glover, Gustafsson AND Cormier?

Cuz I don't.

EDIT - oh yeah, Henderson and Mousasi too. The division is kinda stacked with fresh challengers.

If Jon Jones is out for a while I'd say Glover needs a top five fighter but the way JJ is flying through contenders maybe it would be better to just give him the fight.

Glover reminds me of Weidman right now. Both are great fighters that most likely pose the biggest challenge for their respective champ but neither has beaten an elite fighter (unless you call Uriah Hall elite ).
