The World Anti-Doping Agency has increased the threshold required for an athlete to test positive for cannabis use.

During a May 11 meeting, WADA’s executive committee decided to increase the threshold level for cannabis from 15 ng/L to 150 ng/L, significantly reducing the chances of an athlete testing positive for out-of-competition use...

This is good news. I wonder how much and how close to the day of the fight you'd have to smoke in order to test positive at the 150 ng/L mark.

Depends on several factors. To put it in perspective though, if you've ever been piss-tested for a job, the cutoff was likely 50 ng/L.

My understanding is that it is much easier to cleanse a system down to 150 than 15. If you can't make it under 150 in a day or two, you are doing it wrong.

with this in place i absolutely wont accept any excuse for a positive result. that's a ten fold increase to the threshold

I think that this one comes down to the world figuring out what is a ped and what isn't...I just can't see marijuana as a ped.

This is good. Now we won't have to worry too much about fights being overturned or fighters getting fined as suspended as much.

Now the Diaz brothers will be doing bonghits in the hotel room the night before they fight, They probably already do.

It is currently unknown how WADA’s decision will affect the Association of Boxing Commissions and state-by-state drug testing. This isn't really a thing in MMA yet.

That's what I was gonna point out. The ABC could look at this and say "no more $900,000 fines because someone got high a week ago?? No thank you."

But hopefully they adopt these numbers.
