The week after having been announced as K-1 Hero’s' newest reinforcement, Marcelo Garcia is already training hard to do well in MMA. With his debut set for the September 17th edition of Hero’s, the Alliance black belt spent the week at Team Quest, the team that is home to such forces in MMA as Dan Henderson, Rameau Sokodjou and the Brazilian Vinicios Pezao Magalhaes.

Marcelo Garcia talks MMA and Team Quest (Preview)

Three time and defending Abu Dahbi Combat Club Submission Wrestling world champion Marcelo Garcia took time out of some very special training to speak with InsideFighting Thursday and the full story will be available tomorrow, Friday June 8th.

Marcelo spoke about his decision to make the jump into the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), what organization he has signed with and his training this week with Dan Henderson’s elite Team Quest in Temecula, California.

Speaking of his decision to spend a week training with the likes of Dan Henderson and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou Marcelo says. “This place really is a team for MMA. They have everything here. Great stand up, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu training.”

On what has surprised him the most so far about MMA training Marcelo says, “the conditioning. I want to fight the way I do Jiuu-Jitsu and that’s by pushing the pace the whole fight. So I will have to train much more hard.”

Marcelo also says he’s very motivated and excited to begin his MMA career. “Because something is different it makes you more enthusiastic, more excited…” explains Marcelo.

Read more of what Marcelo Garcia has to say about his decision to become an MMA fighter, train with Team Quest as well as why he decided to sign with the Japanese K-1 organization and when he hopes to have his first fight tomorrow at InsideFighting.
