Pat Miletich, a former UFC champion who turned to broadcasting after his MMA retirement in 2008, is reportedly considering a run for the U.S. Senate.

Miletich discussed the possibility with the Quad-City Times.

"A lot of people are fed up with a lot of things that are happening in the country," he told the newspaper. "I'm not a fan of the left, socialist mentality at all."

I'd venture a guess that he doesn't actually know what socialist means...Oh well, if two cast members from "Predator" can become governors in this country then anything is possible.

Pat is probably the most well-informed mma personality and the least informed political guru.

It's hilarious to see him complain about socialism and big government being from Iowa. The only reason Iowa has money is because the government artificially raised the price of corn. If it wasn't for our 'socialist' government a lot of Pat's friends would ironically be on government wellfare.

I think that is probably exactly why he wants to run as he sees the population being fed on the teats of the goverment..socialism can only work if there are enough idiots ( about 50% of the population) that want to work and who HAVE to pay for those who dont.
When the scale tips and government teats run dry because now people caught on to the fact that you don't need to work , like in the UK, where you are better of on benefits than in work, well, you open the door mayhem.

I started laughing when I read 'probably exactly' and haven't stopped laughing since.

i'm a dirty liberal and I think Pat would be a good politician just because I think he is a good person.

On the other hand, I think he sort of embodies a problem with modern politics - there's a powerful minority on the far right that wants to "blow up the whole government" but has a limited understanding of macroeconomics.

I think there should be an extensive neutral testing system for both parties' candidates in order for them to be eligible to run for office. you should have a detailed knowledge of things like the Federal Reserve, Supreme Court, US and world history etc. in order to be in charge of our country.

I seriously doubt Miletich knows anything about most of those things. Sadly, a lot of elected officials in our country don't really understand those things either.
